2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Covers are truly a double-edged sword. If and ONLY if your truck is exceptionally clean, should you put something on it that touches the paint. My trucks are never clean enough to cover. Secondly, if it is outside, then the wind buffeting the cover against the paint during any breeze will rub a spot or 10 in the different areas of contact.

I have used indoor covers for minimally driven "show" cars, but they only go on following a wash....and never just after driving. They help keep dust off for a clean drive later on, but that's all.

Now if you mean bed cover.....totally different conversation for a different thread.
You're 100% right on all counts. Covers used for outside do more harm than good.

My concern is sometimes i have to leave my truck at one of the work parking lots and that happens to be directly next to a cement silo and ship dock. The prevailing wind blows the cement dust onto the vehicles. Its about an 8 or 9 hour wash job to get it all off evem using vinegar.

I think I would have to find an old clunker to drive to work.

I did on a previous truck - No Good unless you have a relatively rigid cover on bed - otherwise rain will puddle in cover over bed and become a big problem - eventually threw away a $200 Covercraft cover.
Ive got the mopar trifold and im really good at tying things off especially to pull things tight to run water off

@Brutal_HO New to the forum! I've got my VIN on the Google list, after reading the first posts in the new truck stick threads, I guess I have a few general questions, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post. Apologies if it's been covered. Like:

So in general it looks like the Cummins builds take longer than Gas. Does that seem accurate?
Does the Mexico plant process batches of diesels?
Are there known options/packages that delay builds, from what we can see? I've heard that some options have more chips, etc. I've also heard that doesn't matter or delay things.

Seems like heavily optioned trucks and mega cabs etc take longer ya. Not sure anyone totally knows here, but if you want to talk about 200$ discounts and truck covers this is the place.

I dont think there is a general statement that can be made about what takes shorter of longer - it seems to vary - Tradesmans seem to move pretty fast (low optioned trucks).

But there have been times when highly optioned trucks have moved faster than Laramies - my 3500 Longhorn Megacab SRW SO Diesel with most options except Sunroof and 20 inch wheels was delivered in 10 weeks and 2 days - and would have been at least 2 weeks sooner except for a week or so waiting for TTPMS sensors and then transportation delays.

And there have been times when gassers were slow as well as times when they seemed to move faster.

Probably mostly depends on what they have the most parts for on a given day.

I'd rather enjoy my truck and let it get some scratches.

I would think if you can come up with $80,000+ for a Ram you can come up with a couple grand for an old beater to drive to work to protect the new truck. I know I could and would.
I didn't, and my truck wasnt near 80k. I onlynhad to come up with 20k, and there is also insurance to cover, and storage of said extra vehicle

Cool thanks for that. We ordered a Tradesman HO diesel with most options, except opted for 8-inch nav instead of 12-inch, due to the glitchy reports. I did specifically ask for manual transfer case (no shift-on-fly option) so that might make it a unicorn. We're 8 weeks from the order, and the dealer gave us a 12-week estimate.

Not much of a comparison since the 1500's and HD's are not built in the same country much less the same manufacturing facility.
I am aware. But if Stallantis is turning out 2500s better then they are 1500s, I may order a Limited 2500 instead.

Well here she is. Got her back from AllSouth on Friday. The last pic is the 95 siverado that this one replaced.

i personally have 3 vehicles in my drive way. 2001 excursion 7.3 diesel 4x4 limited 93k original miles, 2005 ford explorer wife bought new and a 2001 Saturn L300 paid 100.00 to my wifes grandma for it with 97k miles. just needed front suspension work which i did all myself. thats my beater car and probably will be my daily driver when i get the my drw 3500. or ill sell it and drive my excursion. either way i like to keep an extra vehicle incase one goes down unexpectedly and spare vehicle is driven until i make the repair on said vehicle.

Well you have to tell us what all you did. Lift Or leveling kit? How much lift? No rubbing with 37’s when you turn or hit bumps? What type of kit? The truck looks stellar. That’s also the color I got.

I'm the same way although my driveway won't hold as many as yours. Plus you never know when a family member will need one to drive if theirs breaks down. Usually one of the kids...

Anyone else have one loaded on the train on or around January 1st?
Possibly arriving Colorado, Wyoming Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington? I'm tracking the train. Just left Kimball, Nebraska. Estimated to arrive in Portland Thursday night at 10pm.

Of course. Silly me.

Carli 3.25" Pin top King suspension (air ride)
Carli torsion sway bar, low mount stabilizer, fab radius arm kit & front diff guard.
37x13.5z17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
17x8.5 AEV Katla wheels
CJC inter cooler guard (small skidplate)
A bit of trimming so no rubbing
ARB on board air
Baja Designs 20" bar in grill with Squadron wired to the factory fogs + bezels
S&B cold air intake.

Waiting in the CJC Snap (reprogram speedometer) and a couple Baha Designs lights to hang off the back bumper.
Last but not least os the Peragon beg cover.
I will be 9 or 10 year ceramic coating depends on which mfg I decide to go with.

I think I got it all.

Is there an "average" window to receive your VIN? I'm at 4 weeks now and Dealer hasn't heard anything yet.
Thanks!
