2021 RAM 3500 Tradesman | AEV Prospector | FWC Grandby

With 112,000 acres and miles of hiking trails it is sad that there are only a few miles open to automotive travel at the Great Dismal Swamp

Backing up to Lake Drummond near the center of the swamp and relaxing for several hours was the plan of the day

Storm damage was quite common in the swamp

I have not seen an ice scraper with a brass blade. That seems awesome but also like I'll need to be much more careful using it.

Brass won’t scratch glass.
Glass is much harder than brass
Brass is 3 moh
glass is 5.5-7 Moh
Ice 1.5 moh
Prob should have clarified. My concern would be more the plastic/rubber trim pieces. Prob an unnecessary concern considering that the plastic scrapers are also harder than the rubber, but there it is.

How many gph do you estimate your combo unit will burn? Say, enough heat to keep you comfy in the 30s temp range?

Are you getting a Dickenson diesel fireplace stove? If so, I am jealous.
Those are very cool although since I have a Four Wheel Pop-Up Camper routing up through a ceiling which moves would be challenging. I decided to go with a Wallace NORDIC DT unit.

Since the stove and heater combination uses between 0.09 and 0.19 l/h (3,000-4,700 BTU) and my tank is 113.5 liters, let's say I could run my heater on medium, 24 hours per day, for over a month. Of course, my hydronic water system will use some of that energy also but I should not be required to heat water too often.

I have been trying to figure out one of our summer trips. I was thinking somewhere in the Kentucky/Tennessee area for a week but now I'm definitely considering Pennsylvania...

Since tomorrow is the Feast of Saint Valentine it seems like the perfect time to provide additional ministry to AEV unbelievers. Of course, these are the absolute finest differential covers ever created and will provide me with the ability to quickly check the condition of the lubricant after fording a stream or river.

I do like how they are close to stock size and design with the added function. Prob the best diff cover for these trucks, especially since they clear the factory setup.

Still waiting on the write up for how the AEV suspension is way better than Carli/Thuren :)

If you are that big into caulking and floating rivers (Oregon trail reference) I would extend your vents for your axles, transfer case, and transmission. Cheap insurance. I decided on the carli front diff guard and rear diff guard from a random internet company instead dog the aev covers. I really wanted them but not for that price...

Good call - I have been waiting to order these for some time now and was disappointed I did not have them installed during a recent river crossing.

Here is a nice differential breather kit along with the "Xtras" so I can also run lines to the transmission and transfer case also.

I was going to order those but didn't care for the hard plastic line. Ended up buying pneumatic exhaust mufflers and 25' of 3/8" fuel hose and called it good. As far as I know I didn't get water in them...

That ARB diff breather kit doesn't look like it's that hard of line, but maybe it's different than what I'm seeing online.
