2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

All of these people complaining about wait times then cancelling and reordering a second extreme custom optioned truck, are a bit hypocritical dont ya think?
Might keep slowing the process huh?
Maybe just get less options on a work TRUCK, or be less picky and get one off the lot, or just wait... Ya know, one of those options.

This reminds me of an old adage about being the customer of any solid thing

options:

1. good quality / well built
2. inexpensive
3. available / delivered on time

you can only pick two

Why would gambling (reordering) again randomly give you better odds..
Dont have an answer to WHY - but our limited sampling says it does - those who have reordered mostly have trucks which are at least "Built" and in some cases "Delivered" while the original order is either still pending with no status or built but behind the progress of the second order.

It appears that some of the original orders in question are still "Lost In Space" with no one able to provide info - while the second orders, often higher trim levels but including pretty much the same parts are moving forward.

It appears that for whatever reason, the more recent orders are (or at least were before the Christmas - New Years shutdown) moving more quickly as a whole regardless of options - though there are some Sept - Oct orders may be getting stuck - guessing you may have hit at least one potential factor - specific dealers and the way orders were placed / prioritized - though I dont think we have enough info on dealers to see if there is an actual correlation.

Yes - the way we paraphrased it was you can make it Best, Fastest, or Lowest Cost - but you could only have 2 of the 3 (and frequently the result was 1 of the 3)

Do you guys think it’s has to do with high volume dealership that get preference ? My equipment list says ( special scheduling condition #7) . I ordered my 2500 big horn diesel on 10/25 with a good amount of options. finished on 12/17. Got some good news today. it was released for the factory and approved for shipping. Shipping arrangement have to be completed but it’s leaving soon. The ETA window is 1/30-2/13

Mine is on the second of three train connections.
How do you get this information? I have skimmed through most of the pages of this forum but haven’t seen a definite answer on how to find out. I have the rail car my truck is on, but no way to track it? TIA!

Im not that worried about the re-orders slowing my order personally. I just think its ironic the ones making a fuss over a 6 month wait for a truck with every dumb option checked. You take a gamble like the rest of us on each one of those extra boxes checked. Never know which will be a delay, but the more you have the more chance for a delay. You knew this.
Im betting 50% of it is the dealer and time of order for that dealer. They have priority slots based on their recent orders and allotments. Its like an nfl draft im guessing. So its luck of draw for customers. You take a gamble on your dealer/location/options and you stick it out. Why would gambling (reordering) again randomly give you better odds..
Reordering has worked well for most that have done it so they won that lottery and ordering a vehicle has nothing to do with previous orders or allotments, a dealer is penalized if an ordered vehicle is not picked up by the customer who ordered it, that's why many took nonrefundable deposits.

Buddy who worked on an fca assembly line told me , the goal is 1 vehicle per min when the lines are running.. each vehicle has its own parts list.. color /trim /model makes no difference.. he worked at the truck plant in st louis.
I forgot the numbers on build numbers I was told by management, search and you will find them, it's not like the old days.

Never did figure out Special Scheduling Condition VII (7) but mine also had that and moved pretty well except for waiting a week for TTPMS and waiting a week+ for / in transit - still made it in 10 weeks 2 days.

I don't think the allotment issue is true. I went and dropped off a 24 pack of beer to the guy who does the new car orders today also who I bought my truck from and gave the assigned salesman a bottle of crown as well. The sales manager said my ordered truck has nothing to do with there allocation as its a sold order. he also said its a gamble no one can tell you when the trucks are being built or how they are prioritizing them. its almost like they are in grade school and pulling random numbers out of hats. but as far as allocation he said that's not my hold up its just how ram is operating. are they having structure issues where its a learning curve from the past year and dealing with supply shortages and probably trying to do there best and adapt absolutely. from my understanding ram is doing a better job than ford and Chevy after conversations with local dealerships.
