Hello and thanks for allowing me to join the format. I’m going to order a Laramie 3500 drw megacab with a short bed in the next day or so and I’m agonizing over the HO engine option or the standard diesel. I’m looking for any opinions on this as well as the pros and cons of the 68RFE and the aisin.

I currently towing a lance truck camper and a car trailer, that weighs with race car, approximately 10k. So total weight of about 13k. I have a f250 that pulls it fine but is single rear wheel and with the afore mentioned weight I’m asking a lot of the suspension and single tires.

Nice meeting you all

Welcome. Lots of experience/ options on here so read around. I have pulled about 20-21 on singles but it’s not the best.

Welcome James.
The SO will be plenty for what you have right now, I have no doubts. If planning for a larger rig someday, the HO is a safer bet.
In summary, you will find the HO is a beast, the Aisin is a good and reliable transmission but can be a bit rough sometimes (you just feel it could be better, but nothing too extreme or unpleasant). The HO burns a bit more fuel. The SO is a very capable engine too. The 68RFE is nice but occasionally some had problems with it. But again some has puts tons of mile on them without any issue. Air bags are highly recommended. Go with the 4.10. You won't save any fuel with the 3.73.

Go with the HO, only because of the transmission but the extra torque is a benefit. Especially the HO if you are towing which sounds like you will being that you want the DRW. I ordered my MY2021 3500 Mega Longhorn SRW last year around this time with pretty much every option.

My personal opinion on some options to consider:
- The trailer camera is not worth it because it is a wired camera - hard to install on a 5th wheel probably easier on a horse trailer. Plus you lose the 4 pin trailer light plug, so, you have to use a 7pin to 4 pin adapter. Not a big deal but just info I was not given when ordering.
- I was told dual alternators would recharge the RV's batteries faster - well, it does not at least from what I noticed. So, another option that my not be worth it to you.
- Trailer TPMS: they are the real TPMS monitor valve stems like in your truck's tires. So, this means you either wait to get new tires on your trailer or you un-mount and re-mount your current tires. Either way, kind of a pain.
- safety and tow tech group features: Yes, worth it
- instrument switches and uplifter module kit: Yes, so worth it
