AUX Switches w/ Diode Dynamics SSC2 lights?

I currently have a set of SS3's as my ditch lights but I'm considering swapping them out for the new smaller SSC2 pods. The new pods have a built in back light feature but it requires a third wire. They offer a wiring harness with relay and 3 way switch but I'd love to be able to run them with the back light feature off the existing aux switches. Vehicle wiring isn't a strong suit of mine, anyone have an idea how to make it work? thanks

DHaus - was just thinking of the same. I guess you could run the backlight line to one switch and the mains to another - I was planning to run left and right ditch lights to different switches - so not sure I'd want to sacrifice 3x switches for this set up. I really like the SS2s as a low-profile ditch light, what mount/bracket are you using? - I'm having trouble finding a set (at a decent price) that I know will fit.

Find a parking light wire and tap into that to power the back light part. That was my plan when I had the ssc1 lights pre ordered.

Yeah I still haven't swapped the new lights in, but plan to try and tap a parking light or clearance lights. I bought the brackets separately from Baja Designs. They fit well, no complaints.

Edited based on better information.
There should be a place you could pull for your backlight. I initially thought you could pull a trigger from the snowplow prep, but after some digging once those wires are activated it disables your headlights. So they’re are much use here.

I believe all the HD trucks have a plow prep wiring under the hood, next to the fire wall on the drivers side. Should be able to pull a parking light feed from there.
Interesting idea, any pics of the location of yours? I’m away from the truck for a couple days but am brainstorming where to tap power from for my driving lights that will be going in my front bumper. All I need is a 12v signal wire to trip a relay when I turn on the parking lamps. I was initially going to tap a parking light wire but 1 less splice in the factory harness is a huge plus in my opinion. I guess I can also fuse tap but I’d mount the relay on the firewall most likely away from the fuse box, but closer to the harness you mentioned.

@flan that harness is up next to the firewall on the drivers side, but I looked into it further and if those wires are active they disable the headlights on your truck.

That link goes into better detail.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for. It is how I wired my rear bumper pod lights using the Aux Switch existing wiring and Aux Switch #2

Did anyone ever find a place to tap into under the hood for for a parking light source for the backlight frature on the diode dynamics lights?

I know this is an older thread, but I used 1 aux switch for the backlight on the pods, and the amber DRL in my light bar. 3 switches total for backlight/drl, fogs, & main bar.

Nice
What light bar do you have that can go from amber to white?
Rough Country Black Series. They have models with an amber DRL built in. The amber is not too bright, so I run it all the time with the Diode Dynamics backlight. Colors match almost exactly.

Thanks, that makes a nice setup. Wish my Baja Designs could do that.

The Rough Country is much brighter, but I dialed the exposure down on that shot as the light blinded the camera.
The Baja lightbar is nice, but I just couldn’t justify the $$$ when this one works and gave me the look I was after. I did suck it up and spend the $100 for the Baja brackets. I could have fabricated something, but I got lazy.
