2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

That’s a nice trailer! I’m running around the same weight on this Fuzion 424, so I didn’t even question upgrading to a DRW. I’ve been driving an ‘06 2500 Mega for the past 13 years, but it’s too tall to get under the trailer.

The wife had me looking at used duallies until she sat in a new dodge, now we’re just playing the waiting game with y’all and modifying the toy hauler.

The other thing is the Pin weight of these trailers some are pretty heavy mine was 3204lbs and then I added a 300lbs generator and its in the front of the RV. In which caused me to worry about the tires max weight...We full time RV in New Hampshire (my wife is AGR in MA)....winters are cold but we stay pretty comfortable. Both of my 3500's have the Rear Air Suspension...I really like it...keeps it level.

Those who are driving distance to pick up the trucks, I drove "normal" around half highway and half rural county roads this tank with a touch of city. EVIC says 20.8 MPG but hand calculated it was 19.25 MPG. DEF is at 3/4 which started out full 1202 miles ago. Have to figure out where the 2.5 gallon fill mark is still. Thought it may help planning wise. Pic is just for.... well I love it so lets say bragging!

I’m about to retire after 22 yrs with the Navy. We plan on taking the kids on a cross country tour for a year before picking either TX or FL to settle in. Being a toy hauler, this already has a gen up front which is why it’s pin weight is just north of 3400. I went with the 50 gal tank, but do any to add an aux tank. I just want to avoid getting too close to that max payload, I think it’s around 5500.

That is now the funniest post. Your wife and mine have the same going for them. But my wife has an excuse for every battle wound her Highlander has. Including a post that jumped in front of her car. Scary.
Women drivers... It gets worse when their hair changes from silver to blue, at least that's the way it is here in south Florida..

I have to give a shout out for me wife. She's a great driver and is awesome at hauling and towing. She's towed horse trailers for years. On top of that our current truck is a manual transmission. So every time some jerk gives her a hard time questioning her driving ability she shows them the stick shift. When she gets done with him he usually walks away like a neutered dog wearing a cone of shame.

Full Body paint.....very heavy trailer Riverstone Legacy 16K unloaded and 19K loaded....the 2019 3500 HO SRW would do but I was worried about tires....so I ordered the 2022 3500 DRW HO....I cant wait.....yes Full body paint is the only way to go!
19k on a 2 axle trailer ?? My genesis is about that weight and it's 3 axles

Ugh, that sucks. I am sorry to hear that.

I like the stats work!

I'll likely still go through with it, just wanted some data from the group to validate the commentary from the dealer. Assume they are trying to underpromise, overdeliver unless something changed recently that we are all unaware of.
I was told by dealer when I ordered in September best guess 12-16 weeks but no promise. 3500 Longhorn SRW delivered in 10 weeks 2 days and that included Sept week-long shutdown and waiting for TTMPS sensors - so I think dealers are underpromising based on earlier experience - better to arrive early than late - customers happier. Observing current orders I would think 12-16 week estimate is still reasonable but conservative unless there is another big parts shortage.

I overestimate also, not as much as a dealer though.

Congrats on the retirement....I was Army enlisted then OCS did 29 and a half....it was time to go. I went with the 50 gal tank also on this one. I had a 60gal RDS gravity feed in the SRW (put me at max payload when full and towing) that I'm also going to install in the DRW. The SRW I could drive about 2K miles when empty and about 750-850 miles when towing. The Aux tank is the way to go....Im really glad I got the 50gal I wish you could get it in a 6.4 bed too.

Well, I've had the truck a week now.
First non dually, non diesel since 1996.
I can't tell ya how much fun it is to drive this thing!!!!
I'm zip'n around town like I'm drive'n a sports car. LOVE IT!!
The fuel ecomomy is really suffering right now. LOL
The fit and finish is flawless.
I've walked around the truck more times than I can count look'n for flaws.
Haven't found any. (yet)
Happy.
June order, and I have to say to those still waiting, worth the wait.
Merry Christmas to you and yours!!

A lot of people I speak to about aux tanks have RDS, some do gravity and some don’t. The guy that sold me my trailer told me that he used a manual pump because he couldn’t always guarantee he could give a gravity feed his full attention and didn’t want to spill. I’ve heard some say they tied an electric pump into their in-cab aux switches as a go between, so I may look into that as well.

I’ve just always had this Mega Cab and never used the bed for anything other than range gear and a spare tire. I considered getting another one in the 3500 for the kid’s comfort, but couldn’t justify to myself recline seats over long-haul capabilities.

It’s funny cause I was just mentioning to someone the other day that the Mega Cabs lack a large tank, so you don’t really need the comfort aspect. Now that you add almost 20 more gallons of diesel the thing can stay on the road forever…then add another tank on top of that! I would’ve thought that in the 15 years of MegaCab Dodge/Ram would’ve figured out how to put a larger tank option on it, even if it was only 40-45!

The S&B tank is really nice.. I have the 50 gallon and it only takes about an hour to put it in. I reinstalled my stock tank in my 21 the other day and the tank is awaiting my 22. I really like the SB tank as it has a drain plug on the bottom. If you get bad fuel or gas it's easy to drain... You have the space under the truck so rather use that than my bed. I know this is off topic for builds just wanted to answer...

The way mine works is you install an inline valve in the trucks filler neck (the pipe where the fuel goes) that has a ball in it once the fuel level gets up to it...the ball closes the valve automatically. There's an in line T where the small fuel line connects to the fuel filler neck. This is how the aux fuel is gravity fed to the trucks tank. You fill the truck up first then fill the Aux tank. Open the tank valve and I would leave it open. Then drive once the truck tank lowers the aux tank keeps the truck tank full. My truck fuel gauge always read full until the Aux tank was empty. I would guesstimate when (not towing) I knew how many gallons I put into the Aux tank and then by knowing my approx MPGs I knew when the truck fuel gauge would start to come off of full. When running without a trailer I would not always fill the Aux tank completely full sometimes 10 -25 gallons (if I found less expensive fuel I would fill it up). Other times I would only use the truck tank if the truck was going to be parked for a couple of months I didn't want the Aux tank to be full when parked for long periods.

I added a low profile fuel tank cap so I could close my tonneau cover to keep the fuel tank hidden. I use the Anderson hitch so plenty of room with the tank installed. Im thinking about switching to the Reese Goosebox.

Here's a kit to better understand...shop around you can get it cheaper;

You’re referring to the Mega Cab right? I’ve considered it in the past, but I’ve never pulled the trigger. I’m still on the fence with parting with it at this point. I’ve had offers at $20k, even with bad sun damage, but it still has a lot of life (164k mi) left.

Ok, that’s definitely something to consider then instead of investing in an electric pump. I don’t want an absurd amount of fuel onboard, just enough to avoid some of the higher priced stations out there.
