It depends on what you consider WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better.
Some of these guys are saying they’re getting 15mpg with their hemi’s. I drove a 2016 ram 4x4 2500 CCSB 6.4L gas and got 11-12mpg just opening and closing the door. With my existing 4x4 2006 QuadCab Long bed 2500 5.9L Cummins with larger tires a 3” lift heavy bumpers and a 12,000lb winch I’m getting between 15-17mph and that’s hand calcuated. So by my correct math that 3-5mpg better right there with a much larger profile and heavier truck. With the new diesel, stock or close, tire size and no lift but same bumpers and winch I’m betting It’ll get better then 15-17. I HEAR that many are getting better then 20mpg with theirs. I’m sure I won’t. I’m relatively a lead footed dude. But if I get 5mph better that’s a bonus.
But I’m getting me a diesel because I want a diesel, they’re awesome and super fun and as someone very wise said on this very forum, “Full chubby=Cummins”. If I worried about burning dinosaurs I’d get a damn prius.
I, being an opinionated dude, think if you get a truck, it is purpose built (and of course should be diesel) and if you want to go fast, get a car. If you want to burn less oil get a prius, if you get a prius, move to a west coast state that borders another country to the south and America to the east and pseudoamerica north, your guess as to where I’m referring to. I lived there, past tense.
Hey Brutal, that’s me not being political. I lived in that state. Beautiful but a tad messed up and I’m just exercising my 1st amendment, so if someone from said screwed up state reports me, tell them to file their grievance elsewhere.
Wow! Reading what I wrote I really am opinionated. I’m ok with that.
I guess if you feel the need to remove this post I understand. I like dinosaurs, hate the prius and LOVE America! All 49 states! Well 48 states. There’s a state in the east that needs change. Bad.
