Hoping someone else can offer some insight or has heard of something similar before. So a couple of months ago was having intermittent loss of reverse, and sometimes it would go partially into reverse and shudder violently when I would give it throttle. It threw a code for (incorrect reverse gear ratio) After a month or so of this, took to the dealer and they replaced the valve body, clutches, and ABS sensor.

Reverse worked fine for about 200 miles after the rebuild and it started doing it intermittently again, but less than before. Made appt to take it in and it stopped for about 2 weeks. Started again intermittently and as of this afternoon, had absolutely no reverse no matter how much throttle I gave it (yea it was in reverse gear). Left it sitting in the street for about an hour. Went back and started it up and reverse is working like it’s brand new now. If this happens with my 37’ camper hooked up in the mountains, it could be a big problem. Last time I took to the dealer, they had it 6 weeks and resulted in about $12,000 in lost revenue. Really can’t afford to keep leaving my truck there that long is this is my equipment hauler.

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

What kind of milage do you have? Id be livid if they tore in to the trans without replacing it on such a new truck

I was at 23k when they tore it down the first time. I’m at 28k now with the same issue.

Dealership billed RAM $3,843 for the rebuild. It worked for about two weeks without issue. Service advisor wanted to complete relearn of 1000 before looking at it again. It’s been 5k miles and we’re back to square 1. I love my truck but this is beyond frustrating.

Would be cheaper to drop a new trans in at this point for them

I had to draft a letter to the Florida Attorney General’s office to get them to even get it repaired. It sat stagnant at the dealer for over two weeks without even being looked at. Dreading going through this fiasco again.

Thank you to @RamCares for setting me up with a case specialist early on.

So I picked up the truck on Wednesday and wanted to give it a few days and get through the relearn before I have feedback again. I have to say, this time it feels right! Not sure if it been bad so long I forgot, but it feels better than when I drove it off the lot. Technician found a torn lower/reverse actuator piston seal. Now this is in the brand new valve body that was installed at the other dealer. So it appears this was just a manufacturer defect, as they confirmed all line pressures, functions, and clutch clearances were all good. No debris was found in the housing like last time.

So I’m back on the road and all seems well. Hopefully this will be good for a while. I would love to put an ATS performance valve body, but that’ll have to wait until after the power train warranty expires. Until then fingers .
