Lets see those power wagons

I will use the ladder on the passenger side. I have Batwing awning that I built 3 brackets for that allow for the tent to attach directly on the channel system of the tent. You don't see that on the drivers side. The awning will cover the drivers side and the rear. Here is what it looked like on when it was on my LX470 to get an idea. That solar panel on the tent has already been wired into a Redarc BCDC to feed all the accessories on the Power Wagon like on board air, ARB fridge and some lights I will be adding on the rack itself.

Very nice setup. I tend to get into mine over the tailgate when I don't have my awning deployed over it. My awning is on a swing arm and is usually deployed on the drivers side.

I have everything for a second battery set up except for the actual battery lol. I need to finish that project. I'm tempted to keep my onboard air wired to the main starter battery and continue to only use it with the truck running. It draws a ton of power. The secondary will be mainly for frig, lights, and device charging. The secondary will be charged via the alternator using an isolator for now. I'd like to get solar on my RTT to supplement it.

We have some nice power wagons on this forum. It would be nice to have a big meet and camp somewhere!

Buddy picked up a "new" 2007 last week so we took it out on some of the mountain trails out here. It came with 37s, Raceline wheels (same that my truck has!), and a Carli kit. It did great without lockers. It just requires a little more momentum haha.

I want to get a regular cab stick shift 3rd Gen Powerwagon. Found one for sale 2 years ago...was too late to get it...still angry at the daughters band coach

out with the old in with the new....wheels that is. Was never in love with the silver saltas as they were just too bright for my billet silver. Ended up doing a 3 way...deal that is. someone was selling black ones and another guy wanted silver ones so he bought the black ones that were for sale and had them sent to me and I swapped my tires onto them and now my silver ones are on the fed ex truck headed to PA.

This truck looks waaaay better now.

Dual battery tied in, solar connected. Compressor and ARB working off the yellow top. Got to add some small lights on the rack and then I think I’m good for a bit. Unless I’m not…… just remembered the GMRS.

I have all the items to do mine. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I won't be adding the solar for a bit though, first I'll be doing some lighting and a radio. Until then, I'll only be running my compressor and dashcam off of it. It's also nice to have a backup starter battery.

Does your Redarc act as a battery isolator too? You're using the yellow top with the OEM battery?

Ditto above question.

Ditto ditto Also want to know more
Make a new thread about the install and how it works?

Since I'm not running solar yet I went with this to isolate the batteries. I also went with the NH Overland battery tray like the other poster did.

I've been trying to find info on if it's OK to run an AGM deep cycle battery with the OEM battery in this configuration, but haven't found anything yet. From my limited understanding so far, the AGM will not get a full charge from the alternator if used with the OEM battery as primary. I may just run an AGM charger in the garage to top it off the last 20% or so. Or just go full yellow top for the starter and the auxiliary which I believe would then allow a full charge from the alternator??

I believe his Redarc solves this issue.

I am curious if the redarc acts as an isolator and if running different starter battery along with the yellow top

Yeah, updated my post with more info (questions lol).

EDIT: OK, I found from Optima directly that their yellow top AGM battery is considered fully charged at 13-13.2 resting volts. It will be easy to test once I get my setup going.

So I am running a D27F Optima. The BCDC is a isolator and a few other things. MPPT charger as well. I will start a new thread with exactly what I did so everyone who wants to can take what they want from it. One of the nice things about the BCDC is that it will charge from solar and alternator at the same time. It also is what they call green, so if the solar is providing power then it will choose solar over the alternator. Also you can have mixed battery types. So you do not need to replace the battery you just got in a new truck. I also tied it into the fuses in the engine bay so that that it is on/off based on ignition. You want this as our trucks have smart alternators. Anyway I'll get some pictures and do a solid write up.
