2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

ive done BR to lake charles in as little as 1.5 and as long as 5. Plenty of variables with traffic. I live outside baton rouge in denham and used to work as a regional manager for a tire place that had stores in Lake Charles, Sulphur, Eunice and BR. Id drive to Lake Chuck and back every other week.
Being that I've never been to the area, is this bridge on a main highway or what. From the sound of it I think I want to avoid it in the future at all costs.

Yes, it is on I10 so not many options to by pass it when something happens there. I10 itself is a problematic route, at least between Houston and New Orleans.

Traffic stopped on bridge 3 hrs last week when wife driving that stretch of I-10. Have seen that bridge shut down for over a day with bad wreck. Be happy with anything 3 hr or less.
Homesteaded a section of the bridge years ago. I think it was 1985, sat in one spot from 5pm until 10am the next mornings. If they had held us up 45 more minutes. I think the crop would have been ready to pick. Sad part, no AC in that Cabover back then. I had more B52 bites then I had no bites.

Long I-10 bridge (actually series of 2 bridges totalling 18 miles with a small break) - older bridge - 2 lanes each way - parts narrow with no escape shoulders - 55 mph limit if I recall - trucks mostly closer to limit but crazy's in cars / SUVs unfamiliar with area dont slow down - lots of accidents and no way to clear - if it gets closed there are places to connect to opposite side to get traffic off - only option is older, longer US Highway 190 about 25 miles north of I-10

Theres only 2 ways to get from the east to the west. I10 across the atchafalaya basin bridge, (fun fact, when built it was the 2nd longest bridge in the US). or HWY 190 which goes around but cuts thru a bunch of small towns. Yes watch for cops. The speed limit on the basin bridge is 55 for trucks and 65 for cars, but speeding is common, which is why you'll see State Troopers often. Any wreck will close the bridge forcing everyone to bypass on 190 and it creates a ridiculous mess. And then lets not forget about baton rouge traffic in general. IT SUCKS. Where I10 and I110 merge its the only place in the US where the interstate is 1 lane. If you have to come thru, best times is at night, or super early, Avoid the rush hours at all cost.

Got build sheet and window sticker yesterday.
I live in Kansas City, MO.
Does anyone know the average time it takes to get to dealer?
Ram Chat est is around 3rd week of December.
Does that sound reasonable?
VIN: 3C63R3EJ3NG116809
Thanks in advance.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Been there, Done that - could not agree more
And correct on small towns and police on older US 190, but recently have not seen that many on I-10 - I generally stay in right lane with trucks doing mostly 60-65 but in the last year I have been passed by cars easily doing 80+ in left lanes till they come upon someone doing only 70 in left lane and get really pissed - maybe thats why more wrecks

Yep. when i was going back and forth i would set cruise on 65 and just ride.

Since i had a store in eunice i would usually take 190 to eunice, then hit lake charles and take i10 home. at least i could stop by Billys Boudin when i took 190. Pepperjack Boudin Balls!

You don’t say!

I am new here where do I post a thread about a 2500 HD build that I just ordered a few weeks ago? Thanks.

Thanks for all the info on the bridge. Sounds like a great place to be far enough away from to say "What was that place?"

I live in Louisburg, don't know how long it will take, so I'm awaiting the answer like you. Which dealer did you use?

Last I knew according to the great @brv10 mine was headed to Centreville and then being shipped to Linn where I bought mine. Not sure if that is the same train you all are on or not. I have not seen a ton of people on here getting trucks shipped to Missouri. I am from Monett so not far away if you are talking about Carthage Missouri.

This is the place…..Let me be your friend, I currently have 3, maybe 4 now. If you have your VIN please start on page 1 of this FORAM THREAD (pronounced Forum) and enter your info into the spreadsheet. Study the spreadsheet, it is rather informative and maintained by another suffering human on this site awaiting his trucks delivery. Otherwise, we are available for chat right here and most members are not nearly as rude as I. Welcome aboard.
