2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I think many people don't realize that the 3 peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) show's that they have competed against the same test's as dedicated snow tires. To have that symbol they must provide traction for starting and stopping in severe snow/ice conditions. I believe its all about stopping in icy conditions....its usually much easier in most conditions to get rolling the really hard part is the stopping. I think Cooper made those tires better around the same time that Falken Wildpeak AT3W's came out with their 3PMSF. I have the Falken's and they do work really. really well in icy/snowy conditions much better than an AT or MT tires and just as good as a set of dedicated snow tires.
The dedicated snow/ice tires are way better on snow and ice than a 3peak AT tire, had Bridgestone Blizzaks on my last truck, this one is getting Nokian Hakkapelitas until spring, then probably Grabber A/TX tires.

I hope that your theory holds true. I'm in the Kansas City area which would be next if they are moving West to East:p For me, I've noticed that the Limited CC longbed HO hasn't been built in a llloooooooonnnnngggg time.

Same area here. Waiting for my Limited CC longbed HO as well.

I dont disagree if you live in that kind of weather - but I live in Louisiana.
One of our vehicles ends up in central Illinois at inlaws maybe once a month on the average.
Have only encountered snow / ice maybe a dozen times in last few years. And thats divided by 3 cars - mostly the SUV.
Worst experience was in a Jeep Cherokee with BFG All Terrain TA/KO2 maybe 10-15 years ago - spuin it twice. Since then I hate driving in that kind of weather. Try to pick travel day to avoid.
Last trip in snow last year, I was cruising SUV in AWD mode at about 65-70 in right lane on I-55 (Normally would be 80+) in light snow with no apparent accumulation on road and a Camaro passed me on left and it immediately spun out into the median.
May be up there more as her parents age and good to have 3peak, but hard to justify dedicated set of Snow/Ice tires - couldn't run down here - dedicated Snow/Ice tires would probably disintegrate in heat spells - (kind of like running dedicated rain tires on dry race track) so I would have to swap sets - just have to take it easy and have good all weather tires, just in case.

You got me thinking about getting dedicated winter tires, rather than 'all season' for my baby. I looked up the Blizzaks and Nokian, both look comparable other than different max speed. Why you go with Nokian this time?

I learned what all those extra numbers after the size mean.

I was lamenting spending another grand plus. Was trying to figure out where to store off season tires, was even considering trying to find someone who wanted to sell a set of OEM Longhorn wheels. There's more money.

THEN I remembered that I likely won't see my truck until MARCH so maybe winter tires can wait until next year... :D

Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
Hey guys, 2.5 months for him! Of course that doesn’t mean crap for us but possibly that’s progress. Now the month to get it shipped and he’s still at 3.5-4 months!

Thank you. That’s one of the 3 trucks that I have on the spreadsheet. The other 2 were ordered on 8/7 and still not built.

Keep thinking that way - plan for March and it should arrive before Christmas.
We used to get cheap steelies for snow tires - lots of tire dealers kept take off steels and sold Snow tire / wheel sets. I once bought a set of steelies for $5 each. Those were the days.

After much research the Nokians were just better in a land range E tire, I like the tread pattern for clearing snow out, basic block type patterns are not that good at it, I have a 60 mile round trip on a freeway to work every day, I've had enough of idiot drivers everyday.

Hate the government mandate requiring my back tpms tire sensor be set at 80 psi. You can definitely feel every ripple in the road. Besides the fact I don't like driving around with no load and tires set at 80 psi causing weird tire wear. Anyone know what the tpms are set at for 2022 2500's? Wish they could be adjusted down a little instead of driving around with a tire aired up so high when not max towing. The warning light/screen is incredibly annoying!

2022 TPMS shouldn’t holler at you at least down to ~60 psi from what I’ve seen so far.

I took delivery with 82psi and immediately lowered to 65psi which is what both of the stickers on the drivers door recommend for 2500 Cummins w/ 20 inch wheels. Much smoother ride and no alarms.

Hey Grizz,
I too live in Colorado. Larkspur. I have found what I think are the greatest tires. Goodyear Wrangler Duratrack load range E. I get great mileage and great longevity but more importantly they handle great in snow and both on road and off road.
I’m driving a quad cab, Cummins, longbed, 4x4 2500 Dodge Ram that eats tires for breakfast and it loves these.

You ordered a month ahead of me. When yours comes in, can I come look longingly at it if I promise not to drool (too much) on it?o_O BTW who did you order thru?

Yes, I don't mind sharing some looks. lol I wasn't aware of some of the far away dealers/deals and went with Olathe DCJR.

Thanks, added them to the list.

With all this tire talk, it reminds me of the frustration I have with my 2018 ram 2500. Hate the government mandate requiring my back tpms tire sensor be set at 80 psi. I picked up my 3500 SRW yesterday and before I left I aired down to 60psi all around. No lights no notices at all. Will likely air down a bit more as I put more mileage on

I think you and I may get our trucks at the same time. If your close to me maybe I could bet you a deal on them. I’ll be getting mine too and I know the manager of discount tire. We should get a better price than $350/ea. I can’t remember what the normal cost for what I want is. I think it was $336 or $356. 275/70/R18 or something like that. I’m gonna sell the stock 20’s that come with the night edition.

I just seen on my order is says priority 99.
Anybody know what that means?

When did you order? I’ve seen that is the big fining of an order but once it has vin and order is firm it should be sold priority 1
