Concerning extended warranties, has anyone here purchased/used the LDS extended warranty that MD offers? I understand one can use this warranty at any CDJR dealership and ASE shops.

Not wanting to get into the pros/cons debate of extended warranties, just asking for any experience with this one.

They aren’t selling the factory Mopar warranty that you can get thru Zeiglar?

They may be offering both. The implication was that the LDS warranty is, "...way better than the MOPAR one.
Was told the same as well, they don't even offer the Mopar warranty as they have had better luck with the one they are currently offering

LDS is very good. they will cover almost everything as an OEM bumper to bumper. They are also one of the few that cover TSBs. Ive dealt with them alot while in the independent repair side and now im Service Manager at a dealership, we sell LDS with our vehicles. I deal with them on a daily basis. They're great to deal with and dont try to find reasons to get out of something. Of course yes there are restrictions same as a factory warranty. Dont lift it 6" with a supercharger and expect a transmission replacement to be covered.

This is the good info I’m here for!

Another note, I bought a brand new 2015 Toyota Tundra. Immediately installed a Bulletproof 12” lift w/ 38” tires. At 11,000 miles, my trans bit the dust!!! I was out of Lake Charles in Jennings, LA (460 miles from home).Toyota covered under a “good faith” warranty (or at least that’s what dealer told me). Basically saying they’ll cover once, but not again! It has NEVER seen a mud hole and they could see that. After I got it back, I re-geared to 4:88 (what I should’ve done in beginning). It was a beast after that. But, I traded it off before 20k miles.

MOST dealers try to cover what we can. With modified vehicles the problem will come in when they send an inspector out. Hes required to check the vehicle to make sure its stock. LDS will let some normal stuff slide. I had a silverado 2500 in here with a broken ball joint. Stock tire is a 265/60R20 and the customer had put a 275/65R20. which is actually the stock size the new ones come with anyway. This customer had some 3rd party warranty and declined to cover anything because the tire was too big. total BS. if that would have been LDS they would have covered it. Im here in Baton Rouge, and most of the adjusters and inspectors that work for LDS come here for their service, and they all have my personal cell.

I never heard of them around hear in Missouri so I googled the company and almost at the top was The Better Business Bureau, they do not rate very well with customers.

Thanks for you perspective. Very informative.

Since I live in Washington state, is it correct to assume that all Dodge/Chrysler dealers will honor the LDS warranty? BTW, what is TSB?

TSB is technical service bulletin. Its bulletins put out by a manufacture for common problems. Often has updated versions of parts. Its not considered a recall and are only covered while under manufacture warranty. For instance the silverado 8 speed transmission are common to have a shudder. the solution is GM came out with updated trans fluid to fix it. So there is a TSB that when a customer comes in for that problem we do what the TSB tells us. If the vehicle is not still under warranty then this repair falls to to the customer responsibility.

i texted one of the reps. he said most out of state dealers will work with them. However sometimes they dont like to work with the rates. Here at the dealer i work at our customer pay rate is 140/hour and LDS is 125/hour. They also get a discount on the parts and time. So some dealers may not want to do the work for what LDS pays out. You would just need to ask the dealership if they accept that warranty. There are some warranties that are not always honored. Car shield and endurance are the 2 we hate the most and some dealers wont accept those at all.

Did you read the complaints? They are typical “can’t please everybody” complaints. The one lady sounded like her car was 20 yrs old! Read the Google reviews as well. More good than bad. There’s only 5 or 6 reviews out of probably 10,000’s of policies they probably sold. That’s the problem, when you have a bad experience, you’re 10 times as likely to write a review, but if you have a good one, you’re under impression it’s working and no need to write a review. I’m not endorsing LDS at all, I have no experience with them. I’m just saying you can’t base the company off of a couple of bad reviews. Now, if there were 100’s of bad reviews, I’d stay away. But, especially hearing first hand review from someone on the service side of industry, I bet they’re a good company. Warranty work is never easy. Hard to please everyone!!

2400 complaints in the last 3 years with car shield. VS 4 with LDS and their complaints are answered and documented well as to why its not covered. Which one would you rather deal with?

Mind sharing your experience in costs? Dealer is quoting me $1550 for 5 yr/70,000 mile LDS warranty.

Id have to go back and check my paper work. But that sounds like a good price. I opted for the 6 year/100k full warranty, that also covers dent/scratch, wheel/tire protection with a 100/deduc. i think it was about 4k for everything. I know there are different levels of warranty. Always read the fine print so you know what all is and isnt covered. Some warranty are powertrain only, and others will cover a lot more.
