2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Good news for a bunch of us -- I received the following update from Sandi today that may be of interest to the Mark Dodge folks whose trucks have been shipped from Saltillo to Port Allen via train:
"There are currently over 200 orders of ours at the port, including yours. We are receiving transports daily, hopefully yours will come off one of them this week."

Welcome to the waiting room! Depending on how you do the math I started my wait in February. Just sit back and relax. This is a good group of people to keep you company while you, and I, wait.
Thanks. Looks like thats what im going to do. All to have a 2022 with a decent discount. AND the 4.10 gears with factory 5th wheel prep package that dont seem to come on the 4x4 tradesmans on the lots.
So basically a 3-5 month wait to save a few bucks and get gears and a bed bracket.

I received an email today saying my truck is estimated to arrive at the dealer 11/26-12/9. Hopefully it is somewhat accurate. At one point it had a ship date of 10-1, so i guess we will see.
When did you place the order at a dealerahip?

Well... my truck has been sitting at the Rail yard in Winston Salem for a week now. Dealer says they are waiting to fill a hauler with HD trucks before the truck will leave the rail yard... WTF... delivery date has been moved a full week already. This is getting beyond comical.

Mine got unloaded on the 28th....still sitting there...dealer told me yesterday he's gonna try to get area manager to get a hot tag delivery for it...in 5 days it'll be 5 months since it was ordered...

Hi I'm new to this forum. I've been using this forum for useful information about my Ram truck order for the past few months and decided to register so I could contribute what I could for those who have just ordered or thinking of ordering. I ordered a 2022 Ram 3500 Longhorn with the diesel. I ordered the truck Wednesday September 1 2021 and was told 8-12 weeks by my dealer, though they said it would likely be 12 weeks right now. Using the tools provided by you guys (the build codes, build sheet and window sticker links) I've been tracking my order as best as possible. The dealer has not volunteered any info but when I reached out they were helpful. The truck was ordered September 1, and actually built last week, the week of November 1, and I could get my build sheet on Friday November 5. I was able to get the window sticker this past Sunday November 7 meaning it was in at least KZ-L status (passed all inspections, released and ready to ship). My dealer told me Monday November 8 that it had shipped and was on the train heading this way and would take 3 weeks to arrive at the dealer (located in Northeastern Ohio). It's just under an 1800 mile distance from Saltillo Mexico by car, no idea what train track distance is but for the sake of estimating I'm going to assume it's close. From what I've read the train averages about 100 miles a day so that would be 18 days. If that is accurate the truck should be arriving around Thursday November 25 Thanksgiving, but maybe with the holidays just after. If all of this holds true the truck will have took almost exactly 12 weeks just as the dealer predicted it would.

More details on the truck since I've read that some of these features could add to the time it takes to get the truck: 2022 Ram 3500 Diesel, single rear wheel, pearl white, Longhorn, no sunroof, bed liner, fixed chrome side steps, rear deployable bed step, safety package with stop assist and lane departure, adaptive steering, digital rearview mirror, 8" touch screen with nav, self leveling air bags in rear, engine block heater, 20" polished rims, 50 gallon tank, chrome tow hooks. If I didn't list the additional option I most likely didn't get it.

Hope this is helpful! I'll try to remember to give an update once I actually receive the truck.

wellll ****. just found out I'll be losing my job at the end of the yr basically. After waiting since June and my truck is finally almost at the dealer, but I guess its better it didn't arrive yet since now I'll still have the large down payment I was going to put on it. So assuming I can get my deposit back, somebody might be happy with dennis dillon as a nice 3500 longhorn cc drw will be available!

prob could wing it and still get it, but better to play it safe just in case. Yes its a pity party for me!

Hate to hear that. Hope all goes well.

Well that sucks, sorry to hear. Maybe use that truck and do some hot shotting, you can deliver all these trucks that are sitting in train yards!

I’ll be swapping my Night editions 20’a for a set of 285 75 18 discovery at3 for the increase in the load rating(4080) I’m going to be pushing what the stock tires are rated for (3450 I think) with my fifth wheel and the bed loaded up. Going with the bronze method 305 hd. Will probably order this week as it looks like it’s end of November to possibly January to get them right now.
Okay, now you have me thinking about tires. I never put any thought into tires as far as load goes.

I liked the look of the night package, but I didn't like the cost of just a few blacked-out items and 20-inch rims and tires. Guess I should have joined this forum earlier and asked more questions. So is the night package just blacked out Ram logos, rims, and mirrors or is there more to it? That was what the salesman told me at the time and then said its about 2K so I said nope,

A good point, but the Firestones at least the base SRW Firestone HT tires don't have a very good reputation as to performance. Nor do the Nexens on the DRW trucks. And some of the chromed steel wheels just dont have the look of a $70-80k truck. Lots of people seem to want to customize wheels with larger tires and/or better off road tires than the Firestone AT tires. Once you get stuck in the mud with the OE Firestone AT tires on a truck this heavy, you are stuck - I speak from experience.

If you are dealing with a tire dealer, they typically will offer you $70 a tire for near new takeoffs and just plain dont want the OE wheels - at least that was response to me. But if you can sell the takeoffs (ebay, Facebook, CraigsList, etc. or know a buddy with an older 2500/3500 or F250/F350), it becomes a more interesting option. I have seen sets of tires / wheels go $1200 - or sets of 18" wheels go $450-$600 and sets of tires $600 - or 20" $800 and $800.

If you can get $200 per tire on a set of 20" Firestones and replace them for $300 per tire with something better, its probably worth it.

Wheels however are not as good a trade at $75 ea steel or $150 ea Aluminum vs $350+ ea new. Personally I am looking for a set of 18 inch Aluminum OE takeoff wheels off a Longhorn preferably or a Laramie - have seen Laramie 18" takeoffs for $450-700 a set on ebay, but for now holding out for Longhorn.

But overall its a matter of tradeoffs and personal choice.
Thanks for the information. I always have heavy equipment to pull me out if I get stuck in the mud but won't always. Good to know you can get better tires at the jump and get some money for the tires that come on them. I am going to look into this.

As far as rims go, my 2020 Ram Mega didn't make it 18K miles before some butt head speeding and not paying attention hit me and totaled my truck. Not worth it to me to upgrade them with the way people drive lately. But it was my first wreck in 20 plus years.

Just wait until the new infrastructure bill gets signed. By 2026 all new vehicles will have a bunch of new “features”. Some to detect drunk driving, some to promote safe driving... could get some weird and potentially unwanted tech added to vehicles in the near future.
Every time the stupid government gets involved with saving ourselves from ourselves life gets that much harder, more expensive and with less quality of life. I’m worried for my kids.

So every 6 minutes is OK then. Cool.

I couldn't help myself, I just checked.

Friday they told me
Thank you so much for holding. I am showing all of the materials needed to start the build process have been received. The vehicle should be entering the build process very soon.
Today they told me
It's in the scheduling phase, as soon as all the parts are received it will be scheduled.

Sounds like a step backwards to me.
They lost one of your baskets.

The night package gets you 20" rims instead of standard 18"

We were on flat ground. Clayey dirt that got a bit muddy from a brief rain here in Colorado. My friend with his new Laramie and those firestones couldn’t make it 100 yards in four wheel drive. Granted the truck is torquey but those tires suck so bad I don’t care how much I can get for them. I will be ordering new a month before I get my truck. To say they suck is understated.

ordered my 2022 2500 Laramie HEMI on 9/4...was completed on 10/26...FCA says the ETA at the dealer is 11/19-12/01. I talked to the dealer today, they told me it was in Port Allen , and the ETA from FCA is accurate. I don't have the status code, is there a way that someone knows I can get and watch the different status codes?> I did find my VIN in the posted google doc link, but its info I already have. Thanks

The night edition on the limited is only $1095. The grill, door handles, badges and emblems, tow hooks, mirrors are all blacked outand body colored painted bumpers. In addition to that the wheels go from 18” to 20”. I actually prefer 18” but really like the night edition and will change the tires and wheels to something that’s quality right when I get the truck. The OEM tires suck pretty badly.
