Hey Guys, I have a 3500 on order and would like to start looking for a drop hitch. How much drop should the hitch have for general utility towing? Any brand recommendations?

I have been going back and forth between the 7 and 5 inch. Would the 5 suffice or is the 7 really needed?

a 7" would give you additional options on tongue height, but you'd need to measure.

I use a BulletProof Heavy duty 6" adjustable drop that works for all my needs so far. It's expensive and heavy, but I like that it fits my 2.5 inch receiver very snugly and does not have any extra play in it so there is no rattle or jerking.

I have the same hitch but what kind of locking pins do you have?

Have you seen the Bolt brand hitch locks? They are awesome and I've used them on a couple trucks now. The best part is that they use your ignition key so no need for extra keys to clutter your key ring or forget at home like I've done before.

This is what I have. Would definitely buy this again.

B&W Tow and Stow 7in drop. My Big Tex 70PI-X flat deck trailer sits on the lowest setting when hooked up and loaded.

No I’ll check that out. I have a weigh-safe hitch lock and it is the nicest one I have ever seen or had. I might see if it will work on my b&w

I really like the Bolt brand just simply for the fact that is uses the ignition key that you always have to carry with you and it's one less key for me to clutter up my key ring with as I already have too many on it.

unless you have the keyless option.

Where’s the best place to find a sale on drop hitches?
