2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

According to VIN Track, my truck has been built and was delivered to Utilimaster for something this afternoon - not real sure what at this point. It's starting to look like the 11/3 ship date may just hold.

Where do you get this from?

My dealer informed me this was coming. As of Oct 21 there is a stop sale on Cummins trucks that have been built during that time frame. Which means you can no longer take delivery of a new truck until this issue is fixed. Oh and by the way Ram has no fix to the issue currently.
What is a "stop sale"? Does that mean a problem was found which prevents these trucks from being released? Do you know what the problem is?

The search function is your friend…..but, for diesels……
1. Your relay for your intake heater will be tested if the truck was manufactured within a certain time frame.
2. If it passes the test it will be filled with silicone, slapped on the ass and sent home with you.
3. If it fails the test it will be held at the dealership until the new part arrives in May ?

It's only a stop sale if the relay fails, had one member on here suffer that fate already sadly.

So I have to wonder, if there is a manufacturing stop date for the recall and no relays available to fix the effected units. What are they putting in relay wise now to fix them?

The Details

Vehicles Recalled
• 2021 to 2022 Ram 3500 pickup trucks manufactured between Aug. 5, 2021, and Oct. 8, 2021
• 2021 to 2022 Ram 2500 pickup trucks manufactured between Aug. 3, 2021, and Oct. 8, 2021
• 2021 to 2022 Ram 3500 cab chassis pickup trucks manufactured between Aug. 12, 2021, and Oct. 7, 2021
• 2021 to 2022 Ram 4500 and 5500 cab chassis pickup trucks manufactured between Aug. 13, 2021, and Oct. 8, 2021
The problem: An electrical short in the vehicle’s intake heater grid relay may cause a fire, even if the vehicle is turned off.
The fix: The manufacturer is still developing a remedy for this recall. In the meantime, owners are advised to park vehicles outdoors, away from structures and other vehicles. Ram will contact owners when the repair is available, and dealerships will perform it free of charge.

Right, so what stroke of genius or part has fixed things that is made of unobtanium since October 8th?
Are there no diesels being built since October 8th?

Ordered Sept 10th, went to D1 on Sept 23 with an estimated ship date of Nov.....then it moved to Oct 26 and now its Oct 27th, but still no build sheet.
Ok, I’m going out on a limb here. I’m optimistic! Now someone should please cut the limb I’m on.

Scary. Not liking that. I don’t need anything else delaying my build. Our builds!

Not sure but something that Ram is confident won’t catch on fire i.e. fuse in the line or an old style relay as mentioned before. That’s why there’s an end date. Now Cummins engineers along with Ram are trying to figure out how to correct the problem with supply chain shortages. I’m pretty confident they will come up with something soon and something simple (as they have in the past on other recalls). Cummins and Rams reputations are on the line.

It was either under spec'd or the part manufacturer cut a corner somewhere with the internals. I lean toward the latter.
