2021 Tradesman Locker options?

About to buy a 2021 tradesman. I currently have a silverado with the g80 rear auto locker. It works excelent. No thought to it, and bam it locks. I want something like this in a 2500 ram tradesman. An e locker would do as well. I cant seem to find any available. Does anyone know of a locker that is a bit better than factory anti spin or a tru trak? ( and can also make turns at low speed)

I have a chevy limited slip in my 05 z71. The g80 is very different. It doesnt slowly sort of lock and unlock, like a limited slip. And If one wheel is off the ground with throttle applied for 1 second. It fully locks both sides, usually until im over the hill. It really is perfect. The limited slip on the ram i see slowly moving the grip side while the tire in the air spins a bit faster, that isnt locked at all. I want the g80 type in a 2500 ram to clarify.

After some research>>
limited slip allows the wheels to continuously spin at different speeds without locking to each other completely but can limit the amount of torque sent to the spinning wheel and maximize the torque sent to the wheel with the best traction.

G80 Eaton locking diff on my GMC and love it) If one wheel spins a specific rpm, the diff locks, and both wheels spin at same rate.

Maybe i CAN put the G80 in the ram 11.5...
Stock dodge anti slip/ tru trac says if one wheel is in the air it wont lock. Doesnt that defeat half of its purpose?
My rig is meant to tow my off road rig and recover it from trails. The locker will be used often. My g80 clicks on daily in the burnout driveways i use during work.

My 2019 cummins with the antispin locks them both when one slips i will roast both back tires no issue i often plow snow in 2wd and both tires spin if it slips…. The G80 is a limited slip just like the anti spin but similar to a ratcheting locker….

The 19+ Clutch system works much better than the older gear style trucks like the one in the video

Also i would like to point out the chevy only did better because the shock of the “locker” trying to lock just shook the truck off the blocks it never actually drove off the blocks with both tires similar results on the second test also the simulated ice test the chevys tire was not completely on the pad it….

The G80 is literally, actually and by definition an auto locker. It is not a limited slip. It is an auto locker just like Eaton makes, but weaker and more prone to breaking under abuse. But it does LOCK MECHANICALLY.

Like i said its similar to a RATCHETING LOCKER which acts like a limited slip for proper on road manners….

The Limited slip in my 2021 PW is a gear LSD like the Detroit locker. It's called a torsion gear LSD. Eaton sells them as well. It also has a electronic locker that will lock both wheels together no matter what.

As for the LSD, it doesn't take much to get it to lock up.

As far as the G80 goes, it has a spinning flywheel weight that locks it up at slow speeds when needed. Once you reach a certain RPM wheel speed, it unlocks. And as stated, they break easily.

The LSD in the power wagon is helical gear like a Torsen differential (see: Audi) NOT AT ALL like a Detroit locker. The LSD is a separate function (purely mechanical) from the e-locker the Power Wagon also has.
The LSD in 2019+ rams OTHER THAN the power wagon is a clutch-pack type.

I thought the Detroit locker and torsion gear diff were the same? I beleive that's the way Eaton describes them. Been some time since I saw the video they have on it.

And yea, I know the LSD is mechanical where the e lock is electrical.
Ive run clutch pack LSD and Auburn gears cone style LSD. I like the cone style better. It's basically always locked up until you turn and it needs to slip. But as soon as you put a little torque into it, it locks right up.

Detroit Locker is …a locker. It is either on or off, sending 50% of torque to each wheel. A torsen-type LSD resists speed differences in the output shafts, but does not fully lock the two sides together. A torsen-type LSD is very smooth, linear engagement. You won’t be able to feel it.

You may be thinking of the Detroit Truetrac which is just a torsen-type LSD

May be. But isnt the true track a clutch style?

As for the PW LSD, yes it's real smooth. But a little go pedal and it will leave 2 black stripes down the road. And funny part, it doesn't matter if traction control is on or off. Most TCs will limit the spinning.

Are you doing something that requires a locker? If so.. i'd be more concerned about other things first.

If this truck is just for everyday use, this seems like a pile of work for... absolutely nothing.

What would you be concerned about with a locker that you woukdnt be concerned about with a good LSD?

I may have to try the factory eaton tru trac/ aka anti spin diff out for my self. I contacted yukon about a grizzly to see if they will make it for a 2019+. It is supposed to be a stronger more receptive g80.
Yukon responded that the 2019+ use 32 spline while 2018 use 30 spline. There are currently NO aftermarket carriers for this axle.
Crazy..

I 2nd this. The LSD in mine is extremely smooth - hardly know its there. I can't wait to get it in some snow and be able to do some steering with the rear axle :p The open diff in my last truck made that difficult to accomplish

May be try contacting AAM if they sell to the public. Or go to the factory stuff.

Are the axle housings the same? One would think so.
If so, then you just need the 32 spline axle shafts and 32 spline LSD from the PW.

I thought they were slightly different hence the reduced axle ratings but that could be ram compensating for the suspention
