Hi,

This might be a long shot but is anyone willing to assist with adding passive entry to my 21 tradesman? I have seen the thread on our sister forum just not confident I am going to be able to tackle this task myself. I am located in Southern California and willing to travel quite a bit a distance (AZ,NV or Norther California) to get this done.

I just ordered the harness from Jimmy and the other parts should be coming in next week. I also ordered the security harness and OBDLink MX+ for AlfaOBD

Of course I am willing to pay for your help not looking for a hand out.

Any input or suggestions on where I can get this completed if I am not able to find anyone?

Thank you!

This is my next project. I have all the parts, but it looks intimidating. When I read through the instructions a few times I feel more confident. Just finished my OBA install, so now I have no excuses to put this off any longer.

What is the OBA install?

Where are you located, we can try and figure this out together using my truck as the test dummy lol. If we get it I can help install yours after lol

I am going to be forced to figure out AlfaOBD because I want to install the factory LED headlights and tail lights so I am going to tackle that when everything comes in.

AlfaOBD is easy peasy with the help on this forum. My OBA (on-board air) setup is just an ARB dual compressor and VIAIR 2.5 gal tank connected to the OEM aux switches I just added.

We will see lol I should have headlights taillights remote start and tailgate mod all done by next week if that goes without a hitch I would feel more confident doing the passive entry. Nervous but excited at the same time..

All these parts coming in slowing within a month of buying the truck has my wife asking questions which is more terrifying then ripping off my door panels

I'm in Tulsa if you want to come this far. I installed it on mine and have some of the info in my build thread here. The first side took about 3x longer than the second just because I'd not done it before.

If you've ever considered adding BSM it would be the time since you'll already have the door apart.

Thank you for the offer but that is just a tad too far. How long do you think it took you from start to finish

Just passive entry? 3-4 hours start to finish. Add another 1-2 hours for BSM if you decide to do that as well.

I would be glad to help. I am in Logan, UT if that’s within your range of travel. I just did this on my 2021 Tradesman with Jimmy’s harness last month.

Thank you for the offer! I am attempting to install the LED headlights and try my hand with AlfaOBD so depending on how this goes will determine my confidence level on installing the passive entry

The passive entry install is very straightforward. The only difficult part was contorting my hands to get to the three screws holding the handle on since I did not take the window off of the track or remove the door plate. Good luck!

U didn’t have to remove the door panel to install it? Is there instructions or a video on this?

I removed the door panel (takes 2 minutes) but I did not disconnect the window from the track or remove the inner door plate.

It is pretty straight forward. The instructions make it seem more difficult than it actually is. Once you get the door opened up, it makes a lot more sense. I did the driver side first, took about 1.5hrs, 2 weeks later did the passenger side in 45 min. The part that took me the longest was the routing of the first wire harness (spent 30 min looking for a pic with the routing that i never found). I should really take the driver door back apart and adjust the harness. I didn't take pics of how I routed it either. I did take the window off the inner panel.
