You must be fairly new here. Welcome to the sh*t show, I mean waiting room. Get used to lots of what you are seeing. Order date means practically nothing. Unless you ordered in say the last 1-5weeks. Then you most likely will have your truck by thanksgiving, Christmas at the worst. Those early orders are not coming out till 22’.
 
Mine was assigned a VIN within days (7/20). After like 5 weeks it went from D status to D1 status but back to D status a couple weeks later. As for the dealers ordering a bunch of "pre sold" custom builds just to get inventory, as a a previous poster mentioned, I was told this was definitely frowned on by Ram. My salesman said that I had to put down a non refundable deposit because they had so many cancelations due to wait time. That it actually made them look bad to have ordered trucks that don't sell immediately on delivery to the dealership. That the dealer can get in trouble because some of them will claim they have trucks pre sold when actually they are just trying to build their own inventory in a dishonest way. As of this morning, I'm still in D status with no signs of changing. BTW, these Ram Chat people often seem far less knowledgeable about what's going on than many of the people in this forum.
 
Who knows what status is the cut-off for cancelling an order? Can you cancel before D status? I am still in that "scheduling / gathering parts" phase.

Depends on what you signed and what your state laws are atleast when it comes to getting your deposit back. You can cancel whenever you want.

my Neighbor ordered a jeep in white, and the next day ordered the same jeep in green because it was already accepted. Both Jeeps got built and ended up at the dealership. They took the white one. The sales manager said that it was too late to cancel.
 
to the guys that have received their trucks within the past year, How has the build quality been?
Has quality or fit and finish been compromised with the whole pandemic and microchip shortage issues?

Fit and finish on my 2021 was excellent

Not sure how much it means to you, but Ram won JD Power Best Initial Quality award this year. It's the industry standard award for the best quality of any manufacturer in the automotive world. Really impressive!
 
I received a similar email from "Cara".
Gives an estimated build date of week of 10/25 or 11/1.
Merry Christmas to me????

Ordered 7/26 3500 DRW 6.7 SO Tradesman. Window sticker populated 10/6. Salesman said it’s almost built but waiting on 50gallon fuel tank….
