2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Let them flat tow it back to selling dealer - esp if they consider driving it as is a safety hazzard - I agree with you it is driveable, but I would not want to be on wrong side of an accident and discussing that with Police and Insurance Co - and I doubt RAM would either - they would say they told you not to drive and you disregarded - all on you. Make sure you have it in writing (text, email etc) that they are telling you to drive it 2.5 hr back to selling dealer.
Warranty stuff is supposed to be done at any RAM dealer. Only legit excuse I have seen is schedule overbooked - earliest we can do it is a week from Thursday - but FCA should be able to prioritize it if they wanted to.
And based on the questions as to how blank screen was - I am guessing its more likely hardware not software.
I agree, warranty work should not be denied by same brand dealer. Is everyone that bought from Mark Dodge going to travel across the country to get something fixed?

Most excellent points…thank you! I am going to push for a local update. It seems that it only takes .4 hrs if they have the USB made Ahead of time.

It’s .2 to make the usb and .4 to perform update. That’s only what warranty pays. It can take more time. I’ve had it take half a day to make the usb and update the vehicle. That being said normal time is about 1hr. Internet and computer speed come into play though.

Again based on the question of how dead screen was it is more likely going to be 0.4 hr maybe try twice and check plugin and fuses and order a new screen

More than likely yes that’s gonna be the basics of it. The tech will have to start a Star case with the issue and do what you said then they’ll talked to a higher up and then unlock it to be ordered bc most likely the part number will be locked and unable to order without a case number and Star will unlock it and allow it. If that doesn’t work they may try a few more things and if nothing then they’ll get a regional guy That’s like an engineer and a tech. I forgot the actual title they have that comes to dealerships tohelp with issues like that and they’ll work on figuring it out. Very rarely do they come out though. Lots of stuff has to happen to get them to a dealer.

You know I actually mentioned somewhere along the line that Uconnect5 is not all new… they said something about the RAM interface programming with all the additional camera views, connections, towing tech and stuff like load leveling suspension actually is all new. Maybe part of the reason that Ram waited until now to upgrade to UC5. ‍♂️
You just might be right, we worked on a ton of that stuff a couple years ago, all the cameras

Do you have a Plan B in case you decide cant be fixed in timely manner and/or to your satisfaction?
You mentioned unwinding deal - is there another truck close enough to your specs maybe with an extra feature that FCA could influence a dealer swap to your dealer?
I would be searching Cargurus or Edmunds or other app to see whats nearby.

Quietly for now but have info in back pocket

Ahhh. Very good to know. Thx!

The backpocket deal is that the dealer will take the truck back, give me back my trade-in and I walk away to find or order another truck. There has been no mention of a helping me work a deal through another dealer. I had searched the country for a year for this exact configuration that I wanted and there aren’t any anyway! I would be ordering.…or giving up for a while.

Damn….this sequence of possible unfortunate events is depressing! Now I’m beginning to see why my local dealers are pushing back On doing the warranty work.

Good grief........With all the unsubstantiated rumors goin around as to what individual part is holding up production, I'm surprised anything is getting out of the plant. Next thing will be "they ain't got no steering wheels"
All the crew in the papermill got a good chuckle about the mudflaps holding it up

Lots of trucks hitting dealers. Local dealer just got 2 unsold 2500 Limiteds.

Thanks…I think what makes mine a bit hard to find is that it is a gasser with air ride and 4.10s and towing tech. Most of the higher end, tow oriented builds are Cummins.

I had a similar issue with the 8.4 UC4 in my 2018 in July. An OTA update bricked it. The dealer had to attempt the software update twice before they could order a new radio. It took about a month for the new unit to arrive.
