2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Apparently my truck is in the paint stage as of 4pm today. Take it with a grain of salt because that’s from Ramchat. But kinda convincing because this morning they said it was in the framing stage. Just need to hope and pray it actually gets built

I went to that website to give that a try and it says no update available…at least to me. Who knows! The TSB does reference DealerConnect but maybe just for download To create the USB:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Has a 4GB USB flash drive been created?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 10.
• NO>>> Proceed to Step 2.
2. Go to DealerCONNECT>Service>Uconnect Command Center>Uconnect>More Information
>Dealer software downloads to download the files.
Try an older VIN off the list here.

Man idk. I just know that we did it on dealerconnect up until like 2018-19 then stopped almost completely bc we were told just to go to the website and do it. You could still get updates from dealerconnect for some vehicles but was told it was being converted to the website. Never know they could’ve decided to give dealers certain updates but I doubt it. I also know sometimes they come out with tsb’s before the radio updates are available.
If I had to guess, I would say that maybe there is a bad problem with these units and the normal way of updating just isn’t going to get it….but pure speculation on my part. I know that they asked a bunch of times if my screen was really, really blank and not just slightly glowing or flickering. I was like look.…it’s the same blankness with the truck on or off!!! Maybe that means the software problem is deep in the power supply circuitry. Dunno but ill report back when they flash me…on Weds.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t touch it. Warranty will pay the dealer regardless if it is returned or not as long as everything is documented correctly. Not sure what kind of size those dealers are but I’ve heard of dealers not doing certain work bc they don’t have techs that can under warranty but that more engines and trans stuff not a update. Sounds kinda fishy they wouldn’t. Just me though. I’d take almost anything fca that came in short of fiats just bc I tried to avoid those if I could.
That is odd,it doesn't look like an easy update since it mentions the service manager.

The update itself may be with what it changes or does but all the tech is doing is putting a downloaded file on a usb and putting it in The truck and hitting yes when it asks to update. Writing the software and doing whatever magic happens for the tech to download yes complicated. Actually performing update not so much. Pretty sure warranty doesn’t even require a certification level to just do an update.
I didn't see what they paid the tech to do it, will have to look, they also probably have a tech that specializes in Uconnect since that is so important now to the cust satisfaction scores. The dealer I am buying mine from has 3 people that specialize in it and will come to your house to help.

Dealer only update.

not sure. I know the Uconnect folks initially said they wanted to see me immediately, maybe the next day, at one of 2 local dealers in the Cincinnati/Dayton area Cause they wanted to get me on the road and make sure this update actually fixed the problem. Maybe they think this is a wide spread issue?? That call all seemed promising. These are pretty big dealers… I would have bought from either of them if they had the truck I wanted….I mean, I can pay MSRP anywhere!!

Uconnect then called me back about 2 hrs later and said neither of those dealers would accept the job and that instead I had to go back to my selling dealer. Surprised me. It added another 5 days to my truck being out Of commission. (I personally think I can drive it but they recommended against it because of all the safety crap that runs through Uconnect). I mean, I can live without AC and a radio but I guess collision avoidance would be nice to have!!

Holy crap….where is the dealer who does house calls! I’d pay extra for that!

Michigan, they have dealers in 7 states. You issue is only on the dealer site, not for the public to fix, it's funny because Uconnect 5 is only new on the HD trucks, Jeeps have had it.

You know I actually mentioned somewhere along the line that Uconnect5 is not all new… they said something about the RAM interface programming with all the additional camera views, connections, towing tech and stuff like load leveling suspension actually is all new. Maybe part of the reason that Ram waited until now to upgrade to UC5. ‍♂️

Nope. I tried that site and they of course offered me initially a good price. Then they had their representative call me the next day and they went down about 10K. I left it on marketplace and a dealer out of dallas flew up to OKC and bought my truck and drove it back. Didn't even bother to haggle me on the price.
Marketplace as in Facebook?

I just got an email from CarGurus saying they have a new selling service. Looks like they send it out to various dealers, get the best offer, pick up the vehicle and pay.

Has anyone just sent an email with all of the local dealerships cc’d to see who responds back with the best offer to buy your truck? Thinking if they all see they’re competing they might give you the best offer without any fuss.

Unless they decided to go back to the old way of doing radio updates they aren’t done on dealerconnect anymore. There’s a website that I’m pretty sure anyone can go to and download the update to a flash drive. They went away from dealerconnect radio updates several years ago. At one point they were done on the scan tool like any other module but that stopped once they started the usb flash drive updates.
Never works. Always says there are no updates.

Unless they changed the time which I doubt. Warranty time is never changed unless they change it to less time in my experience. It pays the tech .4 to do the update and there’s a one time payment of .2 to create the usb. They expect you to keep every usb for every radio update level on all radios. Idk who’s gonna keep that many usb drives.

You would be surprised how little updates they come out with on radios. Pcm and Tcm get updates all the time Along with some others but rarely do radios get new software unless it’s a known issue from the software. It took 6months for them to issue a radio update on the 4c 8.4 when it came out when they were going black and wouldn’t let dealers order radios without the update being performed and jumping through a lot of hoops.

Let them flat tow it back to selling dealer - esp if they consider driving it as is a safety hazzard - I agree with you it is driveable, but I would not want to be on wrong side of an accident and discussing that with Police and Insurance Co - and I doubt RAM would either - they would say they told you not to drive and you disregarded - all on you. Make sure you have it in writing (text, email etc) that they are telling you to drive it 2.5 hr back to selling dealer.
Warranty stuff is supposed to be done at any RAM dealer. Only legit excuse I have seen is schedule overbooked - earliest we can do it is a week from Thursday - but FCA should be able to prioritize it if they wanted to.
And based on the questions as to how blank screen was - I am guessing its more likely hardware not software.
