TPMS (TIS) sensors for trailer (SOLVED - see 1st post) aka TTPMS - Trailer TPMS

Thanks to everyone who worked to figure this out. I have all the parts on order for my new 2021 3500 that the dealer ordered with EVERYTHING except for the TTPMS (I mean, why? Really?). Question: did anyone ever succeed in finding any third-party tire sensors that would work with this? I'd love to be able to use cap sensors instead of having to have the tires re-mounted.

Yea, I've already ordered the official Mopar ones, but it'd be nice to have cap style if possible, I was just wondering if anyone ever found any that work.

Does anyone know if there are sensors with shorter valve stems available? They are so long they are exposed to curbs and debris from my wheels.

Has anyone bought/installed the tire pressure sensors on a towed trailer that can be viewed on the driver information center after being configured in the UConnect? Specifically for the 3500. I am looking for the part number for the sensor.

I've tried a couple of dealers and yesterday chatted and then emailed Mopar support. Chat referred me to email. Email sent me a totally useless reply. "After doing some research, I found that I only have part information for those that come equipped with a particular vehicle or that are compatible with a vehicle. I would suggest that you speak with an authorized Ram dealer for the part number for the Tire Pressure Sensors that would be used by the trailer towed by your truck. "

This being my first non GM truck after 40 years I am surprised that FCA support doesn't have part numbers. Seems like a black hole.

Mod Edit: OP hasn't been seen in a while so I'm posting a summary update here regarding the TTPMS (Trailer TPMS):

Through diligence and hard work on the part of several members, the parts and process to add TTPMS has been discovered. There are several good summaries and instructions posted throughout the thread that I will attempt to cover below.

The parts required, discovered by several contributors and posted throughout the thread, was initially summarized by @thestuarts HERE.

PARTS REQUIRED TO ADD TTPMS to 2019+ RAM HD TRUCKS:
As of 6-21-20 You may find some of these parts, particularly the TIM module and jumper cable, currently out of stock everywhere, partly thanks to this thread.

You will need to install the hard parts. @Phil T excellent instructions pdf HERE.

The hardest part of this is pulling down the headliner (easier on 2020) to remove a dummy plug jumper and install the TIM and jumper cable.

TOOLS REQUIRED:
  • AlfaOBD for Windows (for 2019) or Android (2020 trucks) ($50)
  • Security bypass cable like the one from KAOdTECH. ($50)
  • Bluetooth OBD-II adapter like the OBDLink MX/MX+ ($80/$120)

You will need to enable the sales code option for TTPMS using the tools and components listed to "recode" the Body Control Module (BCM). There's a giant AlphOBD thread here if needing a primer. I used an ELM327 compatible OBD2 reader ($22 BAFX) with success.

Turning on the TTPMS option in the EVIC discovered HERE thanks to @g00fy

For the 2019 trucks, you may need to use the Windows version and select the MY2020 under advanced - also thanks to @g00fy
(ETA: AlphaOBD has been updated to include MY2019 TTPMS settings)

An excellent writeup using AlphaOBD Windows for a 2019 written by @Phil T HERE

"The TTPM sends the information to the TIM via the Controller Area Network-Chassis (CAN-C) to be transmitted to the IPC."

ETA: P/T Chassis Net: TTPM must be enabled.

It may take several key cycles or time, or even overnight for the Tire Pressure options to show up in the U-Connect Trailer Settings once TTPMS is enabled.

@1FastHemi excellent post on adding the wheel sensors HERE:

I was unable to pair non-MOPAR sensors (external TireMinder) to the system. I don't believe anyone has been successful pairing non-MOPAR sensors.

Lastly, much of this could not have been possible without guidance and input and PARTS from @Jimmy07
So I have finally sourced all the parts(over 6 months, thanks Covid supply chain) and installed everything last night. I used the Windows AlphaOBD to enable VehConfig 8: Trailer TPM and began receiving the "Trailer Tire Pressure System Not Configured" message in the cluster. My Question from here, I know it is mentioned that it can take a while for the Trailer Tire Pressure setting to show up on the Uconnect screen but as I was re-reading the top post I noticed:

ETA: P/T Chassis Net: TTPM must be enabled.

Is this a setting I need to adjust in the BCM also? I didn't see it, but its still possible I missed it.

On a side note; for some reason I am unable to open this link it says I need to be logged in, which I am: "An excellent writeup using AlphaOBD Windows for a 2019 written by @Phil T HERE"

You need to enable that option in the BCM.

Should have shouted out, I have a spare TIM cable sitting here. Mine came in after I got one from Jimmy.

Does anyone know if there are sensors with shorter valve stems available? They are so long they are exposed to curbs and debris from my wheels.
Ya, mine stick out a little bit. On another forum, someone had the idea that you can zip tie the sensor to the "drop" center of the wheel... and just use a regular stem. They might be onto something there... Or something like this: http://www.bowessealfast.com/p-2856...MIzer10Z-M8QIVoh-tBh32qAj0EAkYBCABEgKMhfD_BwE

It's been a few months since I installed mine, can't remember who makes the sensor itself.

I think Schrader makes them. I just e-mailed their tech support. Will let ya'll know what I get back.

Okay, e-mail received from Schrader ... their tech guy thinks this will work:

Most of posts here seem to be for early Trailer TPMS - Looking for info on 2022 Ram HD Trailer TPMS system sensors -
1. Are they the same as early TPMS sensors mentioned here (P/N 68433188A) or P/N 68510390AA mentioned elsewhere?
2. Are there multiple configurations (long / short length and bent for duals, etc)
Thanks, Ed

You still have that cable around? I'm willing to purchase it for you.

Finally received all of my parts. The shorter valve stems listed above look identical to the long ones, just shorter. Will install them to my trailer wheels asap.

Keep us posted and maybe add some pics of the final install.

Does anyone know what the maximum pressure the trailer sensors will read. The new tires I am looking at are rated at 110psi. thanks.

I have a 2022 Ram 2500 without the TTPMS option. Funny thing is... the uconnect screen shows the option enabled under trailer settings. I went out and bought/installed the sensors and then tried running through the pairing process. Unfortunately, it couldn't find the sensors. I did a little more investigating and it appears the module under the rear bumper is not installed. I'll order the modules and see what happens.
I'm wondering if the inclusion on the uconnect screen is a fluke or if its something to do with the new Uconnect 6. Are there any other 2022's on here with a similar experience?

Hmmm.

Makes one wonder if the 22 camera option's changed moved it to a remote location like Ford uses.

If the TIM or TTPMS receiver wasn't present I'd expect you will see a "Service Trailer TPMS message."

You sure the module isn't there? Located behind the license plate area.

Definitely not there. The plug is still there, just with nothing hooked to it.
