Hello, I have had two previous CTD’s 13/16, has the factory recommended oil grade remained the same or has it changed with the new version of the 6.7?

No more 15w40?
times are changing.
Yes they have changed. Along with doing oil changes at 24,000km just like the manufacturer recommends! Modern technology eh!

I'm glad that bulletin was posted I had no idea it changed. Wonder if they have a disclaimer on the Valvoline jugs yet? Have they stopped recommending Power Kleen fuel additives as well?

cummins has only ever approved power service additives

I just sold my 2016 with 28k kms. The new truck with a 24k interval would equate to one oil change in 5 years!
I’ll stick to my 4K oil change regiment

I only do a oil change once a year due to having a VW TDI I mostly drive when not needing the truck for towing the TT, so I use 5/40 year round.

They do say 24,000km or 1year on the oil right in the owners manual sooooooooooooo

I only put on about 5K/year so do them yearly as prescribed, in the spring just before towing season.

Project Farm did an episode on his 2nd gen(?) and a tractor that debunked the need based on oil analysis and while I value his reviews, I'm sticking to the OEM recommendation.

Can the 2021 6.7 use API-FA4?

Took this from the shell site
"Shell ROTELLA® T5 Ultra 10W-30 is suitable for use in 2017 as well as some late model engines allowing an API FA-4 diesel oil in this viscosity. Some engine manufacturers do not yet approve the use of API FA-4 engine oils, while some allow limited backwards compatibility to earlier model year engines. Check with your original equipment manufacturer regarding the use of API FA-4 diesel oil."

The NON-Ultra seems like the right choice.

AFAIK, Cummins has not approved the use of FA-4 oils in any B series engines.
