My Limited truck was built without the Trailer Reverse Guidance programmed in the BCM

Went to the dealer Thursday morning to resolve the issue. When driving there I noticed the TPMS suddenly wasn't working. I have had the aftermarket wheels on for 3 weeks and TPMS has worked flawlessly. Even though I had an appointment they said they were backed up and to leave the truck overnight and they would address the two problems Friday. They called me Friday afternoon and said take the truck back to Discount tire to address the TPMS. They also said they couldn't flash/re-install the sales code for Trailer Reverse Guidance even if I paid to do it. That it couldn't be done. They obviously didn't care if that view was pictured on Ram's website.
It just happens to be a misleading picture and false advertising imho. But apparently nothing can be done about it.
Still love the truck though. Here's a few random pics.
Hello, @Ramfanatic

We're sorry to hear about your various vehicle concerns and would like to look into this matter further. To do so, can you please send us a direct message? From there we can determine hwo to best assist. We look forward to you catching us up to speed! Also, thank you for also bringing this to our attention as well @RAM_Dad

That sucks. It's a nice little feature, just wish it would stay on instead of going away every 5 or 10 seconds. What does your window sticker look like? I've attached mine. Its listed in my Towing Technology Group on my 2019.

Maybe you are already aware, but there is an aftermarket solution to keep the cameras running.

Your screen should look like this if you have it. If not l would talk to someone because it is in the TT group . Check your build sheet and see if it is broke down by item . No way you should not have gotten it on a limited model . The pic just to the right of the blue image should be on your screen . Your dealer is full of it and lazy .
Unfortunately it doesn't come with the Towing Technology Group on the Limited even though that is the view they show on Ram's Build and Price website. I'm sure Ram didn't do it intentionally, but I think they should have better quality control on what they show on their website. It's very misleading. That view was a primary reason I selected that option. The only way you can get it is if you select the Level 1 equipment group. I didn't do that because I wanted the Alpine sound system instead of the HK.

Well, I am ordering a limited also and would like this functionality. The only problem is I don't want half the options that come with the level 1 and dont want to spend the extra 4k. I do hope it can be enabled with AlphaOBD as I already have it for my Ram 1500.

If you ordered a truck that has the surround view system, then it comes with the trailer reverse guidance. It doesn’t matter what trim level, or what package you chose that includes the surround view system, the trailer reverse guidance is included- they go hand in hand. This thread is just a one-off instance where the truck was built with the vehicle configuration of the BCM missing that setting, but under normal circumstances, the OP should have had it on his truck. It is actually a misleading thread title, as Ram is not misleading with the picture of the trailer reverse guidance screen representing the tow tech group.

I love the overhead surround view but haven't found a use for that trailer guidance view. It just doesn't work as well as the side view mirrors. The only use I could come up for it was backing into a really tight area that required me to fold the side view mirrors in.

I love the cargo cam but I can't believe how stupid it is that they put that view on a short timer. I guess they think that if I can leave it on, I'll just stare at it instead of watching where I'm driving and not just take a glance at it from time to time. So instead of being able to take a quick glance down at it, I have to navigate the screen menus while I'm driving to bring it back up. That sounds so much safer! Must have been designed by an idiot lawyer trying to justify his pay.

I guess I will see when I get the truck. The limited level 1 specifically states it has the trailer reverse guidance, while the tow tech group does not list it. The tow tech group is the package that will give me the surround view camera. It is also not listed a an option that is standard on the limited.

Please let me know when you get your truck if you have it. Ram customer service just called and said it was probably just a mistake at the factory since no one else has complained about it. I told them that if it is a mistake then I should be compensated if it can't fixed, and if it isn't a mistake they should change the picture and specify which camera views are included and which are not so the customer can make a better informed decision about which package to choose. I'm still not convinced that it is a mistake, just as you pointed out, trailer reverse guidance isn't specifically listed on the Towing Technology Group whereas it is listed on the Level 1 Group. They also said the dealer couldn't correct but if there was something they could offer to make it right. Unfortunately they rejected my request for free gasoline for life :), but they did end up giving me a 6 year package of ten oil changes and 10 tire rotations.

I’m not sure what the confusion is, it’s not a misleading picture. You SHOULD have reverse guidance. It’s a screw up from the factory. Need the code enabled in BCM.

I have to admit, that I use my mirrors way more than the cameras. Guess I am old school and been towing trailers for over 50 years without the gadgets. The cameras make it hard to judge depth of field and distances. Even the digital inside mirror is deceiving, although it does eliminates the blind spots due to the rear seat head rests. I do use the rear view camera in conjuction with the mirrors. That stuff does look cool in the brochures however. LOL

So I just ordered a 2500 Limited as well and I did not Opt for the Tow technology group because all it said in the ram info was "Surround view camera system" which I do not want.

As far as I could tell the 2500 Limited edition already has all the reverse lamps and sensors and a reverse camera and the heated powered tow mirrors and most importantly trailer braking. That's all I'd ever need as far as towing technology goes.

I did not want the Level 1 Equipment group because it has all the lane keep assist and adaptive steering and trailer reverse guidance and HK speakers all for $4,185. No thanks. I did however a-la-carte the Digital rear view mirror to use when towing a camper. Can't see anything out of a regular rear view mirror so i thought a camera view of the trailer and hitch might be more useful. Reading lots of folks liking that camera. I did not opt for the CHMSL. I'll have rear passengers check cargo in bed or use my rear view mirror itself. Or pull over and sit up and turn my head around and look myself.

Then it sounds like you don’t have to worry anything that is being discussed in this thread…

That 360 comes in real handy when backing out of a spot or seeing if you are between the lines .
I back in everywhere so its pretty easy to tell when you are in the lines, but i do agree it would be helpful in tight spots when backing out so you can watch the lower obsticals

Agreed. I always back in when parking; makes pulling out much easier.

For me, it is also very handy when pulling into and out of my garage. I have the surround view as a shortcut on the top and use the front camera to make sure I’ve pulled in far enough. The split screen trailer view also helps when backing out as my garage door is a single car 8’ wide type & I did scrape the mirrors in my 2013 1500 a few times when not paying enough attention.

I’ve not yet used it for backing up my trailer, which has no cameras on it. I’ll be curious to see how much visibility is actually provided, as backing up doesn’t always mean truck and camper are both in a straight line.

Did OP ever get his issue resolved?

Just curious if your truck came
