Trailer tire, anyone see treadwear like this before?

I was moving some tires around on my enclosed car hauler yesterday and noticed something odd. Check out this picture, anyone see something like this before? It’s like the inside edge tire diameter grew relative to the outside diameter. I checked the tread depth and it’s pretty much the same inside to outside, .226” on the inner .212” on the outer edge of the tire. I have this one stowed as a spare now, but I’m thinking I might junk the tire all together. 4D9E1F2F-1907-484B-9938-521E1ECED070.jpeg

Is it taller than the other tires?

I had one come apart internally - broken belt. Didn't realize it till we got home from a 350 mile pull.

Hard to believe these two identical brand/size/dated tires started life as the same size. Dam things were only 2 seasons old.

I run only Goodyear Endurance tires now for my D and E rated needs.

Ditch the Chinese tires ASAP!

Friend of mine called me to come look at his brand new fifth wheel. When I looked at the tires, it said "Made in China". Told him to take it to the nearest Michelin dealer and have him put light truck tires on it. He did. Never said if they gave him anything for the Chinese exploders.

Don't put LT tires on your RV. The sidewalls flex too much.

OP. Car hauler? I'd be looking at Sailun S637 ribbed or another well known ribbed tire like Hercules.

thanks, I have been looking at the 14 ply tires but have been having good luck with Hankook Vantra trailer tires. They are 10 ply but N rated. I don’t drive that fast but in the hot months on I-40 and I-10 I find that they manage temperature better than L rated tires running at 70’ish mph. My experience is that they are equal to Goodyear Endurance tires.

Do you have any experience with blowouts on the 14 ply tires?

Didn't know Hankook made trailer tires. I'd say hard to go wrong there.

I've only run anything on E rated tires. I don't believe in putting 14-ply ribbed tires on a 12K or under RV. Just beats the rig and suspension to death with that extra mass and stiffness. Car hauler? Great setup.

GY Endurance top out at E-rated, though they have the 235/85R16 that's in G-rated territory and takes up to 110psi and load rated to 4400 per their inflation chart. They're also all speed rated to 87MPH. When I wear out (probably time) my current set, I'll be stepping up to them if available and I can confirm with GY the rating. Mostly just to get a little extra ride height.

Hankook has been offering a line of trailer tires for about 3-4 years. Spec wise they are equivalent to Endurance but $20 cheaper and, like you said, hard to go wrong with Hankook. I have been thinking quite a bit about moving up in tire class but the Sailun are 16” wheels only. Transeagle does offer a 225/75-15. They are both really heavy tires and if not perfectly balanced they are going to shake my trailer apart but if I have a blowout I am concerned it will be like rolling over an IED. I just put on new Hankooks so I have some time to work it out but my route is 3k miles each way so I don’t live with any tire for long.
