2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

Well, emailed my dealer to see if what RamChat is telling me is actually the truth. I was prepared for a LOOONG wait as I ordered a Pearl White Laramie MC Night Edition, with Ram boxes, Sunroof, BSM, and just about every other option other than 5th Wheel. I haven't checked on status much since I ordered 7/16 since I figured it was a moot point. Ram Chat just told me I was in the frame stage with no ETA to the dealer. Should be interesting from here.

For the first 200 pages this was entertaining and informative. Now people are thinking about dumping orders? As Andrea pointed out, bailing on a sold order is not good for the dealer that’s why they ask for the deposit.
production started about a month ago with shortages and thus they had re-arrange their logistics and builds.
Look up Just IN TIme ordering. Lots of vendors and moving parts have to be aligned properly.

even if the day was sunny, and no supply chain issues you are still looking at 6-8 weeks. We are nowhere near that.

sit down shut up and be patient. I don’t want my truck rushed for the sake of having it sooner and I assume yours will too

Yours look like its getting ready to be built.

The same dealer you buy the new vehicle from has nothing to do with it. Some states vary with the trade in allowance on sales tax. For example, I’m in Illinois, and no matter how much my trade in is worth, I can only get a sales tax credit for $10,000 max. If I purchase a $50,000 vehicle from mark dodge in Louisiana, and trade my truck in to them, they will reciprocate to Illinois my sales tax on a $40,000 vehicle sale price.
Your missing my point unless I have this tax thing all wrong. The OP sold his truck outright whether it was to another dealer other than Mark Dodge or an individual It doesn’t matter. He then buys an $70,000 truck outright from Mark Dodge he then has to pay North Carolina sales tax on $70,000. Now if he traded in his truck at Mark Dodge and got $50,000 for it he only pays sales tax on the $20,000.

It is a bit frustrating when you see builds that are highly optioned and ordered over a month after mine get built, patience grasshopper, frustrating still.
Sorry guys. Def wasn't trying to frustrate anyone, just hoping to shed some light so maybe we can get a better idea as to the rhyme and/or reason of this build process. Def doesn't seem to be one though. Sold my 21 Mc about 5 weeks ago and driving a rental in the meantime (at least it saves me 500 a month . Def worth the wait IMO. My question to anyone thinking about bailing on an order.... You saw the 21 build forum and know the state of the world... Why go through the hassle and get a killer price on a new build and then complain it isn't moving fast enough? I was willing to wait as long as it took, and even added the options that the forums said would delay the build the most - for my dream truck. Guys - keep your chins up and have faith! THE JUICE IS WORTH THE SQUEEZE!!!

That poster responded saying yes he lost that tax break (because that is how it works in his state) but the combination of how much more he got for selling when things were high and the break he got from price with mark dodge actually had him paying less than using the tax break.

In my state this rule does not exist. If I buy a 70k truck then I pay taxes on the full 70k regardless of trade in value.

someone asked about an Arizona semiconductor plant. Just read an article about inflation (on Yahoo)… but it mentions said plant (quote from an engineer at Intel I believe) :

"Demand is so high," the engineer explained. "We're building this big fab we announced in Arizona. That's going to add a couple million square feet to our fab there, and we're constantly building in Oregon. But I think the timeline to be getting new tools on to expand our capacity is a couple of quarters. So, I would say our capacity isn't probably going to be able to meet customers' demand for something like a year to two years."

That gives me hope. I ordered almost the exact same thing except granite crystal metallic and no sunroof, and my order was about 13 days after yours

You can sit down and shut up if you’d like. This has become more than a shortage issue. When you have exact and more chip reliant orders being built that were ordered long after another, the shortage argument goes out the window. I’m beginning to think the theory mentioned this weekend by a GM that production scheduling is as much marketing driven right now as anything else holds some water.

Not lost me yet.... they gave me until Thursday to decide (and let me know if they get another offer before then). I like both trucks obviously - I am concerned with the "regret" on the adaptive cruise. I've never had it in my trucks - but my wifes cars have had it for years, so I know how nice it is. That said, we don't take the truck too often on long trips.
Personally adaptive cruise is overrated to me but I do enjoy a good blind spot monitor. Only vehicle I have had it on is the wifes Acura MDX but I did order it on my Ram 2500. Could I live without it? Absolutely!! Is it a "deal breaker"...no! Remote start... apple car play.. quality backup camera and or parking sensors are a couple of my must haves which many vehicles have these days

As you know we have the same ship date. I just got an email from Ram saying my limited will be built the week I’d 9/6 or 9/13. So I’d say they’ll be on their way next week sometime.

For those wondering what my truck is. 2500 Limited Megcab, Ramboxes, all options except a sunroof. Vin 116702 ordered 6/25

As far as getting the email. I had ramchat escalate my build. They say it will get priority, but I think you just get email updates, as my wife’s Jeep ordered the same day is still in D status. (392 xtreme recon) and escalation hasn’t helped that one lol.
Man if the is the case maybe my power wagon will be built soon

You have no clue what logistics looks like. I have a friend that operates these lines for Ford. One screw up of even 10 seconds can shift build lines. That’s how tight they are.
Unless you fully understand that cars aren’t the only things the chip shortage is affecting
It hits everywhere. I am a computer systems engineer and our projects can come to a stand still when our architecture calls for new hardware.

Heh last time I heard it went back to D status and haven’t heard or check since.
If I may ask, when is it scheduled to be built? Ship date set yet?
I dont have access to the actual start build date, your shipping info is all setup though, thats a good sign, the dates all depend on the truck build finish though, subject to change unfortunately
