2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

August 11th build,hour 20,nice looking truck.
I’m guessing the SL number on the window sticker is NOT the build date anymore like previous years?

Just got an update from my dealer. My truck is still at status D with no estimates. Was at D1 back on 8/1 with an estimated ship date of 8/12. It was one of the trucks that got pushed back to D because of delays. Mine is a 2500 CC Bighorn ordered on 6/4. Hopefully I get it by Christmas.

Just a heads up, you cannot order a 3500 HD WITHOUT the HO option. There is no standard output option available for the 3500's. Reason is they want to keep the SO Cummins for the 2500's.

Well not to be obvious...but you are looking at the 2021 build data... I believe the group is speaking of 2022 builds.... but ... hey nice try!
Someone linked a 2022 equipment list with a 3500 and SO Cummins, it's an option for 2022.

Nice try!

There's PLENTY of us with '22 3500's ordered with the SO. PLUS you've been supplied a window sticker of one already built to verify. Instead of being smarmy...look into it.

I am pretty dead set on the diesel. Current truck is a gasser and leaves a lot to be desired when towing. I live at about 6500 feet elevation and tow over mountain passes frequently so the exhaust break on the diesel is a large part of my decision.

Good input on the 2500 vs 3500 for payload. I was going back and forth but am definitely now set on the 3500. Just a matter of ASIN or 68 RFE.

If the cost of repairing the 68 if it goes out at 200k+ miles is a factor more so then the requirement of added weight capacity I think you would be much happier saving the $3kish up front and keep in handy if you still have the truck and are unlucky enough or run it long enough to actually need to rebuild the 68RFE. I was in the same boat as you and liked the idea of the HO but then I test drove one of each and ordered the non HO version. It felt faster and more responsive than the HO/Asian combo and was cheaper to boot. If you ever think about deleting and tuning later down the road, there's also a lot more options out there for the standard Cummins and 68. You would likely be less happy with the HO for your needs and for what, being able to pump your chest about ponying up for the HO?

This isn't to talk bad about the HO or Asian, but most people don't need it and wouldn't even want it if they test drove one.

Thanks, I appreciate it. To be honest this has nothing to do with me puffing out my chest saying I have the HO. I just want the truck to last for a long time and not have major issues with the tranny 60k miles into ownership.

I know the ASIN and HO are overkill for my towing use case, was just looking for feedback on reliability. I dont mind paying the extra 3k if that means I am ensuring myself a more reliable powertrain for the next 5-7 years. From what I am gathering here, the SO should be fine so I shouldnt be worried if I go that route.

You are apparently clueless and it's people like you that spread bad information. Do your research before spouting off. SO is the "standard" diesel with ordering a diesel 3500, the HO is an upgraded option that is available should the SO option not enough

I ordered Laramie with level 1 options. Next day I asked sales to add the power steps to the orders and sales didn’t tell us it can’t be done. They requested Stellantis add the steps to the order and we aren’t sure if they will add them because we already had VINs.
After researching and trying to build on costcoauto I realized that they can’t be built with level 1 Laramie.
How will Stellantis proceed? Change my Laramie to level 2 and add the steps or reject the request to add steps and leave the truck as ordered with level 1 Laramie group?
Thanks.

Same for me. I know some on here are getting 8-10k off. My dealer agreed to a $4k discount off the MSRP price once it gets here. I'm good with that because they already bought my 2016 Ram 2500 from me for more than it was worth. It booked for $48k trade-in and they gave me $53k for it.
You basically got 8-10% off w the trade in. Well done

I just built my level 1 Laramie last sat. It required me to goto level 2 to get those steps. Just put them on aftermarket and save some coin.

When you say august 11th build. Does that mean it starts the build or is completed? You looked up my vin 3C6UR5TL1NG117428 and gave me a august 14th build date. So far no window sticker etc..

The request was already put in for those to be added on 8/9 and I’m not sure how it’ll end up playing out.

Im in the same boat with my power wagon. My sales manager says he has some contacts and is going to start looking into it. He says all the rest of his 22 orders have gone into d1 status

Just ask your dealer for an updated poc and it will show you if it got accepted or not and if it did it will show you the new msrp.

Same with my dealer. I ordered a Power Wagon as well 7/17 and have been in "D" since 4 days after.

At your last update what stage was it? Did the dealer contact you at the beginning to give you a vin? I am not in a hurry but am excited as this is my first ordered vehicle. Since the order was placed I have not heard a word from them. Granted it has only been since 8/11. What did the first responder consist of?
For me here's our vin #. Nothing else unless I call my Laramie is in D status ship date 8/14/21. I'm thinking it was not built yet.

Emailed Sandi about my order (3500 Limited Mega Cummins VIN NG115354 ordered on 6/18) and got a bunch of great info back, much of which we’ve been going ‘round and ‘round with on this forum in the past week speculating. It’s a longer post, but the topics are: getting an option added 1 week after original order acceptance, how it impacts pricing, the recent reduction of chip-related options on lower trims/1500’s, where orders such as mine are likely to stand, and when Sandi expects more movement on them.

Took her all of 45 mins to reply with this gold mine of info. Sandi, if you’re reading this, all the kudos to you. Hopefully this is helpful for most everyone here, but especially so for those with Limiteds that seem to have less info coming out than other trims. I lightly edited the text below for brevity/clarity. Hopefully posting this here saves a her a few emails from us on the same questions and lightens that workload just a little!

My questions to Sandi are numbered:

1. I wanted to check in on the addition requested below (XH7 add 1 week after original order confirm) back in late June and see if there was any word of it being accepted or not?

Sandi: Yes it was accepted (see attached).

2. On this subject, I was reading about how making a change like this can cause an order to get re-invoiced, which can result in a new (higher) price because Ram may have raised prices since the original order was completed. Do you know if something like this is applicable in my scenario? If so, curious what the new price change is, as I believe Ram has raised prices a bit since I ordered.

Sandi: Yes, it was affected by the price increase. We will still provide you with the same discount pricing structure applied back in June though and it should come out less than employee price as it did then as well. We just can’t challenge production on their price increase due to the change request.

3. There was some news last week about Ram potentially taking chip-heavy options out of both lower HD trims and even the 1500 Limiteds (mostly safety-related options). This was from a 3rd party site tho, so may not be true, but curious if you’ve heard if the HD Limited’s may have certain packages impacted in a negative way (e.g., losing stuff that was originally ordered)?

Sandi: Yes many things were pulled from the lower HD trims and almost all the 1500’s however sold orders already confirmed are not being negatively impacted. Only new orders and dealer inventory stock orders.

4. Lastly, since I have you, is there an easy update on my build progress that you can grab?

Sandi: Latest build is attached. Your order like many others we have in the pipeline were moved at the end of July into D1 status with estimated ship dates placed. Then RAM released a ‘re-alignment’ of production on 8/4 and everyone moved back into D status. They have started kicking some HD’s out, mostly the Tradesman, Big Horns and some Laramie’s….in my opinion, these were basic builds with little to no advanced technology and easy for production to move out of line. I would anticipate yours moving into D1 again by the end of September.
