Retrofitting Homelink Garage Door Remote

My 2020 Ram 2500 Powerwagon came with no Homelink installed. I own a couple of properties and I hate having multiple garage door remotes clipped to my sun visor.

Those of you in the same situation, what have you guys done to retrofit a Homelink system to your truck?

If the wiring exists, witha connector in the headliner, it should be pretty straight forward plug and play some homelink modules are self contained.

You should just be able to buy the visor and provide power.

Turbo Cleaning?

The feed for the homelink module is the UGDO enable circuit on the BCM, and it will need to be enabled with AlfaOBD. I don’t think a visor exists that has the vanity light but not homelink, but it won’t be too difficult to add that circuit if you get the correct visor.

This sounds promising. Any ideas on how to add that circuit?

One thing I was considering was buying one of these HomeLink 60-HMLKV5BLK Wireless Garage Door Opener Control System for Car Headliner or Sun Visor: Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A79G9FY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_CR2HBMB0E4AEV7XCQ2G1 and getting power from the auto dimming rear view mirror. But I like your approach better.

Even better question would be why are these Homelink Systems so terrible in these trucks...is it my ceramic tinting on all windows including windshield that is messing with things?

I ordered a visor out of a wrecked truck for 100.00. Not sure if it's just power and ground or if there is a data wire as well.

From watching infotainments video it doesn't look like there is any programming required from alphaOBD. If that's the case then everything would be contained in rh visor. But this is all a guess at this point.

It looks like they use power from the overhead console so you shouldn't have to enable anything. If you want to use the factory wiring for it you would probably have to enable it like Jimmy said. The homelink itself is a self contained unit, just needs power.

Actually looking at the plug in the infotainment video it looks like it's a 3 pin. What does enabling it in alphaOBD accomplish if it's a self contained unit?

It enables power on that UGDO circuit..... But since the infotainment just grabs power elsewhere you don't need to do that. The 3 wires are power for the UGDO, Power for the lighted mirror, and gnd.

Like I said, It's a self contained unit.

12v constant for mirror
12v ignition for homelink
Shared ground

I sourced a homelink and lighted vanity sun visor on eBay and just got Infotainments wire harness to complete this on my Bighorn. Super easy other than than fishing the harness from the overhead console to the sun visor hole. Definitely worth the $100 I spent.

I don't see where anyone replied to this question. Lets assume someone wishes to wire the sun visor to the BCM, as it would have come from the factory. Is there a MAP with all of the pin locations on the BCM?
