Need help with a Power Step purchase

I just picked up a 2021 2500 bighorn 6.4 gas. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of what is a good Power Step that opens and closes with the door?

I saw Amp Powerstep Plug-N-Play and that seemed like the only option available. I will install if it is reasonable to do on my own.

I have a 4 month old and a 5'5" wife who is having some difficulty getting the baby and herself into the back seat. I'm 6'2" and I'm near my max stretching capabilities getting in also

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

There is some pics and instructions on installing the Amp steps on my 2021 75th PW in my build thread.
 
Do you or does anyone else know if those are the best bang for your buck, longevity, and so on? So far the Amps are the only real option I've seen online in google and i have nothing to compare them to, except other versions of the Amps lol.
 
This is my 3rd set of AMP steps I've installed on my trucks. Never had an issue with any of them.

2004 Chevy Silverado, 2001 Ford f250 and now 2021 Ram Power Wagon.

I'll say this, Ford was the easiest and Ram was the hardest.

But I was able to get them done in a day.

There is another newer company called RBP that makes steps and seem to be good. Looks kind of like a knock off of AMP.

And just a FYI, AMP is owned by LUND, who has been around in the aftermarket industry for a long time.

I've ordered my AMP steps off Ebay. If you look around, you can find a good deal on them. I paid $200 less than MSRP that everyone else is selling them for. Brand new, in the box, delivered to my door.
 
I have a set of the AMP power steps on order through 4WP for mine. They’re estimating about 6-8+ week lead time due to demand and backlog from the pandemic. Wife said she doesn’t want to ride in it again until we get the steps so she doesn’t have to climb in and jump out. Lol.

I had Amp steps on my 2007 for 13 years and they never once had a problem. I went with Amp again for my new truck. I was a little worried when I hear Lund bought them but the quality is still there. Only drawback IMO, is that they plug into the OBDII now.

I put a splitter in. A compromise I guess. I didn't go factory because too many were having problems at the time we were looking.. Even some of the trucks we test drove had problems with them.
 
For the AMP steps, I'm not sure on the install, but I was able to order a set from tonneaucovered.com for under $1500 shipped to my door, no tax, and they got here in under 2 weeks!

I had a similar situation to you, I'm 6'2" and it was a stretch (plus plan to level and bigger tires in the future), wife is 5'8" and then two kids. A buddy of mine had a small rip in his pants that turned into a very large hole the first time he climbed up into the truck hahahaha.

I am in no way affiliated with AMP or tonneaucovered.com. Just passing along my experience.

One thing to note on the install, at least for the Laramie Mega Cab Diesel, was that the boards come in contact with the pinch weld so you have to do a little finagling to get them to deploy correctly.
 
This is the company to buy from - https://www.electricstep.com/ They are an authorized retailer, and have always had the best price (and shipping and tax) for me. I've ordered multiple sets from them, and always via PHONE... I've used them for a 2013 RAM, a 2015 Ford, a 2017 Jeep... and a 2013 Chevy. (Hmm...odd years...)

Anyhow. Try them out. (disclaimer, I'm retired, and I don't work for anyone).
 
When I first got my truck I really wanted the RBP steps. Unfortunately they were backordered with an anticipated in-stock date 3 months out, so instead ordered the Amp steps from Amazon and had them two days later.
 
I ordered Amp steps through autoanything for $1378 shipped to my door with their discount code. Pretty hard to beat that price from what ive seen.

They are actually delivering today, 4 days after i ordered.

I ordered mine from amazon. Confirmed the model number and made sure my order says for my ram 2500. Hot sent steps for a chevy Silverado instead

Returned and I'm going to order from somewhere else.

That is a bummer. I ordered from Amazon and they got mine right. I had a lot of credit and gift cards with them so it worked out great.
 
The AMP’s are great, but sharing a recent experience… make sure you get the model specific for your truck. I have a 21 Laramie 6.4 and after they were installed the swivel bracket was coming in contact with the frame (when folded up) and making a terribly annoying rattle. After some digging we figured out that the dealer installed the model intended for the Power Wagon. Swapped them out and now I’m a fan.
 
The AMP steps are not the only game in town. I looked and came across Rolling Big Power automatic running boards. Installed them my myself and they work flawlessly. what sold was how they dropped another 3 inches further down that their flagship step. IMO you should look into those steps. They were on a 2017 Ram with 2 1/2" level and 34" Nittos. Very helpful customer service. rollingbigpower.com There is no jumping on them to help with adjustment in the front during install. Good luck.
