Hi. My name is Amanda and I recently purchased my first Ram after being a life long Ford person. I purchased a 2021 Ram 3500 Single Wheel, LB.

I have had a few hiccups with it it but I will post those in the proper category.

My reasoning for posting here.. I have chosen to come on here.. I need help!!! (Don't we all. ;) )

While driving on the interstate at 80 mph heading north, a semi on the south bound side lost a 4 way tire iron. It came across the highway at hit the front end on a direct impact. It then broke in half and proceeded to hit two more vehicles. So my brand new baby is rather snaggletoothed. We took it to a body shop and they informed me that it is just the grill replacement, but said it would be almost $4k. Needless to say, that isn't happening. So in looking around and doing a ton of research, I know we can change out the grill ourselves.

The concern is ensuring I order the correct part or parts. My husband called the dealership I purchased it at and they said we needed part number 68443922aa, but what ELSE would I need?
Thank you so much for all of your help and I really appreciate it! After paying $70k for a new truck, I just want to get her fixed and looking good again.

Thank you in advance. All of your information has been invaluable over the last few month while I was shopping for a new truck. I typically do not interact a lot as being a woman that has a larger vehicle, I get annoyed with the presumption that it is my husbands truck. Sorry he drives a Volvo S40 and I despise when he drives my trucks. But oh well, such is life.

Thanks again,
Manda~

Laramie correct? The grille itself is easy to source. Search MOPAR parts stores or even ebay. Somewhat easy to replace on your own. There are just a lot of other parts that need to be removed to get to the grille. The grille surround and plastics under the hood. Plenty of how to vids out there. You should be able to source a new/like new front bumper on Craigslist or even this forum. Folks upgrade to heavy bumpers and need to get rid of the stock...that's what I did and how I sold mine. You can prob source what you need for around $800 or less. And you can get the RAM lettering on any of those sites as well.

Yes it is a Laramie.

I have looked and found them on ebay as you stated and also have already been looking at the videos. I just wasn't sure if there are certain retaining clips or additional items I would need? When looking at the Mopar site, it lists options in the grille category in addition to the grille. Such as Camera Bracket, Set Pins, Push Pins, Spring Load Pins, those kind of items.

I found this, and it looks like it would work, but just wanted confirmation from someone that has changed out their grille or that deals with these. As far as the bumper goes, I most likely will wait until we return to Idaho and then order a Road Armor, we have someone with the challenge coin for them. But we shall see. My main priority is the grille.

Thank you!

I appears you just need the grille. Everything else you can retain from the current gille. The link you provided is for the the grille plus the surround, which you already have. It's a good price for everything though. You'll just have extra parts. Or you can buy just what you need new for around the same price.

This it what I'm referring to as far as the surround goes. If you save those, there are a couple of black mounting pieces that need to come off to attach them back to the grille. My grille is plain...matte black, so no chrome. That and no camera is the only difference. Removal and mounting is all the same. BTW, all the grille surround has to come off in order to remove the grille itself.

Edit...Once the grille is off you can remove and replace the R A M emblems. Simple tabs on the back to remove.

Can try car-part.com for salvage parts. Sometimes can find a deal and sometimes the yards will ship parts.

Rockcrawler-

Thank you. I have it saved. You are correct about the "summoning up some patience." Vehicle items are one thing I actually don't know much about. Other than being made to change my own oil, my truck tires, and drive manual all before I could get my lic by my dad, it wasn't in my wheel house. Instead I focused on construction, so that is partly my need for a large vehicle. I will never have something I can't haul a sheet of plywood in.

Now a days my husband usually does the maintenance on it for me when he is home (he is gone a lot working for the govt). Funniest part about that, when we first got married, he said he was going to get the oil changed in my truck that I had at that time, I just looked at him blindly.. Why would you not just do it yourself? I have never taken it in. I walked him through how to do it, and reassured him it would be easy.

After an hour he comes back into the house, "babe, I cant figure out how to get the oil OUT of the tank?" Um, what? I told him, remove the oil pan plug. He couldn't find it.. So at 8 1/2 months pregnant I had to go out side and crawl under the truck to show him where it was. I couldn't fit the entire way to reach it myself, so he actually had to do it. But at least this way he found it. (Insert joke about always having to guide a man... :D) Regardless, since then he has been doing it all mostly. The only things he hasn't done or learned to do himself was the removing the broken coil packs the first time he had to change them in one of my previous fords, but by the last one, we have that item down pat. Stupid things!! He also didn't do his own timing belt on his car. But since he has 242k miles, I think I am in good hands.

Slvrsix7,
I will look them up. I know typically he orders stuff from rock auto. I appreciate your help.

Currently we are in the South West, but will be returning to the WA/ID area in a month. I just would like to get this fixed before then. Granted I may be fixing it in a parking lot somewhere, but so what. You do what you have to do!

Thanks again everyone and I will let you know what we figure out and how it goes.

Funny stories.

Without that guide, I never would’ve found some of the fasteners holding the grille and surrounds onto the truck. Good luck. the hardest part is yanking off the trim pieces under the headlights. I swore I was going to break them but they didn’t break somehow.

Glad you guys are ok and the truck only suffered cosmetic damage! That could have been deadly. I think the idea of upgrading to a new aftermarket bumper is a great one. You could also change the look of the truck by going with a black grille or something. The Delmonico trucks look awesome in the night edition......just saying, Maybe there is a member near where you currently are that can let you let you replace the items at their place. Maybe even lend a hand. Beats working on it in a parking lot.

Well I went ahead and bought the trim removal kit from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Z7MDVPW Mostly because I will not be happy if I break a nail. It just hurts like hell! Your statement reminds me of doing custom trim work and praying that it doesn't break while nailing it up, or that you sand just enough without over doing it.

You it the nail on the head.. I slightly freaked out and exited the highway immediately.. I had my oldest sister with me as she had been on our summer road trip with the girls and I. If this truck wasn't so big, she wouldn't be here right now! All the way from Idaho to FL, and then from FL to NM, and then we went on to AZ for a week and then came back to hang out with the husband for another month. In the entire time, I had the tire iron incident, and two cases of rouge birds that flew into me. One I may of hit, the other flew into the side of the passenger door. Needless to say, it made for a fun and memorable trip.

As far as the Delmonico trucks, yes I agree. The whole reason I bought a RAM was because one of the guys from my husband station has been working on me to do it for the last year any time I was around. It was a constant, "get ride of the Ford's!" Most of the other guys have all changed to RAM after the station changed to the RAM for some of the UM vehicles. Anyways, his is a 2018 2500 Delmonico all blacked out with the Road Armor front and back. Unfortunately due to the special assignment case, we will not be back up there for another month. I figure there are enough guys all staying at the same hotel, that I could most likely twist their arm to help me.

I actually inquired about this link.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164766845476. I was told it wouldn't fit though and that I would need to install the same chrome one, part number #68443922AA. This is the second time that I was given that part number so it seems like something must be different?

You guys sure are nice when a woman asks a question...Ya'll just make fun of me!!
HAHA.. Well I guess they take pity on me. I figured it is the same as when I go into Lowes/Home Depot. If I am in all work clothes/jeans and boots, hair thrown up and covered in saw dust, most people just smile and continue about their business. They will let me load my truck alone, and rarely offer help. But if I go in there in normal clean jeans, no boots, not looking like I just walked off of a job, suddenly everyone is scurrying around to help me. But hey, I will take it when and where I can get it! I am typically on my own due to his work and well someone has to do it. Plus it is kind of my job. HAHA.

Just like I don't like him driving my truck, I will flip a lid if he touches my miter saw or my grill. But I am still pretty girly. I do like that he will clean my pew pew for me! But I'm not taking the trash out or cleaning toilets unless I have too. That is what I have teen girls for!

And maybe, it is because I say thank you a lot and throw in a please here and there too? ;)

Seriously, thank you all for your help. I do really appreciate it.

Here's one being given away. Reach out quick. Might be gone soon. Just have to pay for shipping.
