So I have a 75th AE PW that has the mirror reverse lights.

When I put the truck in reverse, turn on the headlights, and turn on the mirror reverse lights by pushing the lower button on the light switch., they do come on. But shortly after I start moving, the light goes out.

Shouldn't the light stay on until I put it in drive?

Is there something I'm missing on a setting in the Uconnect?

Or is the system screwed up and I need to go see the dealer?

Is there a setting in the BCM that maybe didn't get set that I can set? I have a AlphaOBD.

Thanks for any help.

I just tested mine and it stays on untill i put the selector to D.

I have backed long distances (1/4 miles down a trail) with mine on... iirc you are in Cali? I think cargo lights cannot be on while moving there, but I thought that only applied to moving forward not in reverse

Please share if you figure this out. My Longhorn does the same thing and I would really love for them to stay on the whole time backing up.

So I tried a little more this morning while parking at work.

Truck stopped.
Put it in reverse.
Hit the button and turned on the light.
As soon as I let off the brake to move, the light went out.
Tried turning the light back on while moving and it would not come on.
Stopped the truck and tried turning the light on and it came back on.
As soon as I let off the brake, it went back out.

In U connect, I have the light set to come on with the bed lights. Is that maybe the problem?

Update:
Went out and turned off the light in Uconnect.
Light will not come on when I push the button. Nor does it come on when in reverse.

For those who have it working, can you post what setting you have in U connect. Maybe I'm missing something in there?

You are talking about the mirror reverse lights?

You are pushing the cargo light switch?

The actual mirror light is going out...the switch light is going out...or both?

I did not know the mirror lights had to be activated with the cargo light or any switch...interesting!

I unfortunately can not test as I do not have them.

Very curious though

Edit: I re read all posts and follow what you are saying now. Still very interesting about the switch...did not know that

I’ll have to play around with it tonight to get you a difnitive answer, but as far as I remember:
I can hit the switch (lower half of lights knob) at any time, and the little Amber indicator on the dash comes on. However, if the truck is in drive, the actual lights will not come on UNTIL the truck is in P/N/R. The lights will turn on as soon as the truck is out of D, and stay on until the switch is booped again or the truck is placed in Drive. This holds true as many cycles as I want, until the next ignition cycle when the button must be pushed again to make the lights active again.

OK, so I looked in the users manual tonight.

Sure enough, Calif and Mississippi do not allow the lights to work.

So now to figure out what I need to change with the alpha obd to make it work.

OK, I found this:

2014 CBC Config I/O & Feat.-Baggage (Cargo) Lamp Output Disabled with vehicle moving
Doors-Mirror Rear Guidance Lights

Nice!
I wish the lights were a bit better “shielded” like the aux lights on Chevy trucks... it’s easy to blind yourself with these ones.

I keep forgetting, I had my truck shipped to SoCal from Texas so that is why my doesn't have that limitation.
