How to upgrade the open space below the radio with a drawer.

My truck has the inverter plug. There are two version's of the drawer, one wirh the inverter plug and one without.

Parts needed: instrument panel drawer with inverter plug - 6NK25TX7AB, instrument panel bezel with slot for drawer button - 6RP72TX7AB.

I only needed a flathead screwdriver to swap over the inverter plug and USB ports.

You will reuse the lower trim bezel that goes over the center hump.

First, remove the lower trim bezel.

Then remove the bezel surrounding the open cubby. Only held on wirh clips so it pulls right off.

Then remove the cubby. It's held on with the same type clips.

Unplug two connectors from usb and one connector for inverter plug.

Here are the 3 parts removed.

Here is the new drawer and bezel.

Use flathead screwdriver to release tabs on usb and inverter connections.

Install into new drawer.

Go ahead and install bezel surround to drawer to make sure all clips go in correctly.

Plug connectors back in and reinstall.

Thanks for the write up. I totally forgot that the upper trim levels have the drawer. I guess I never missed mine when I had the Big Horn. Or just got used to not having it in the Tradesman. I don't have the 110A. I wonder if there is a cable hanging out back there and all I need is to order the plug. I'll have to take it apart and see.

Damn man, i really like that upgrade, the drawer looks so much more useful than just the hole that's there now... I wish it were a bit more reasonably priced though.

Thanks for posting this write-up. I just finished installing the drawer on my Tradesman, and the photos were helpful in identifying the clip locations.

Only thing I'd add is that my 2021 had two small screws, one each at the bottom corner of the cubby assembly to hold it onto the metal bracket (which is not removed for this swap), in addition to the orange plastic clips. Important to remove these two screws BEFORE yanking on the cubby to remove it from the metal brackets!

Interesting. Are they the same two screws seen on the picture of my removed cubby?

I was (gently) pulling on the cubby in my truck for a minute or two before I realized that there must be something more than just the orange clips holding it in place.

One other note about this conversion: my Tradesman has the manual floor shift for the 4WD. The drawer is slightly prevented from full opening when the lever is in 2WD mode. In 4WD High mode, the drawer can be completely opened. In neutral and 2WD Low positions, the drawer travel is increasingly restricted. I still prefer the drawer to the cubby, but anyone with a floor shift should be aware of this interference before spending the couple hundred bucks for the drawer assembly and bezel.

I figured there probably would be interference with manual xfer case shifter...bummer, I would like this drawer rather than the tray on my PW. Can you show a picture of it opened in 2Hi and of how restricted it is in 4Lo?

would you say the amount of useable space with the drawer is greater than or less than with the open hole?

The drawer definitely has a smaller cubic volume than the cubby, as the drawer loses about 1-1/4" on either side to allow space for the ball bearing drawer slides. However, I'd much rather have the drawer, even with the smaller volume and restricted travel, because the contents cannot be seen from outside the vehicle. Around here, visible items tend to attract thieves.

Here's a photo of the drawer installed with the floor shift in 2WD.

Below is a photo of the drawer open to the limit of the shifter in 2WD. The travel is about 5". The drawer contents are still fully accessible, unless you have gorilla hands.

Below is a photo of the drawer fully open with the floor shift in 4WD High. The total drawer travel is about 6", and the drawer does not contact the shift knob.

Below is a photo of the drawer open to the limit of the shifter in 4WD Low. The drawer travel is about 1-7/8". You might be able to get coins out of the coin slots at the opening of the drawer, but that's about it.

Thanks very helpful.
Not sure how I feel about it being blocked in 4Lo unfortunately....I do put stuff there currently that I might access offroad (gloves glasses pens notepads etc)
