Not that I want to do it or even if I should if I could. I am just curious. If for some reason on my 2024 Ram 3500 with HO I wanted to swap out the transmission to a ZF8 could it be done? Again in no way am I smart enough or mechanically incline to know if this is a good idea or bad idea or even possible. Thoughts?

Are you referring to the ZF8 that comes in the hemi powered trucks? If so, no I dont think so. The Cummins makes too much power for that trans. The new ZF powerline trans that is rumored to be coming in '25 is a different trans than the ZF8 if I understand everything correctly.

Sorry didn’t even know ZF8 was a thing now. I was talking about in 2025.

Time will tell when or if it shows up, but I’m sure someone will try. Physically it would fit but the electronics will be the biggest obstacle.

The ZF8 has been in the hemi powered trucks for a while now. The new trans rumored for the Cummins is an entirely different trans that is rumored to be coming to the Cummins (in '25 or later depending on who you listen to)

That said if its the powerline that you are thinking of swapping in, im sure if can be done but youll need a whole bunch of new electronics and what not, youre probably just better off trading in your '24 for a truck that comes with the ZF from the factory whenever that is done.

I imagine in a couple years time if the new 8sp proves to be a well liked and reliable transmission a bolt in swap kit will become available much like the Allison conversion that is available. It should line up in time for my 68 to crap the bed so I’m hoping someone does do it!
