I took my 3500 in to the dealer for an oil change (first one is free) and asked them about this message. The service advisor asked me if I had driven near Lake Tahoe (in the California Sierra Nevada mountains) lately? Told him I hadn't but had driven over the mountains twice in the last few months and got one of these messages each time. He told me that this is a known issue that sometimes at higher elevations this message will come on temporarily and then go off. They checked the DEF system and of course, no problems.

Has anyone heard of this? Sounds like a Navy story to me.

I live in Lake Tahoe and have gotten this message twice in the 2+ years since owning my truck. Its gone away the next day each time its come on. Ive had the y43 addressed and was told that would solve the service exhaust system message but I dont believe it. I was not told that it had anything to do with living at elevation.

Yeah, smells fishy to me. Like I said, they checked the DEF system and all was good and working as intended. But once it happened coming back down Hwy 88 just west of the summit, and also coming down from Strawberry last weekend. In my case the message went away while we were still driving. Known issue my butt.
