So I upgraded from a '21 RAM 1500 to my '24 2500 Bighorn to make towing our TT more comfortable and less taxing. We have a 28" 6000lb trailer and the 2500 tows it without issue, but I feel that the load might feel more balanced with some air bags. I have been looking at the Rough Country airbags (without compressor) but have been unable to pull the trigger because I'm not sure it would really make a difference. We only tow the camper 3-4 times a year, but this is really the only reason we have the truck. What are all of your thoughts? Please vote and then comment with your reasoning.

With a 2500's springs inbound as much as they are, air bags will make a huge difference for you. I used timbrens on my past truck and they made a huge difference.

Airbags will give you better stability i have them on my 2500 but i would recommend pac brake or firestone ones over anything rough country

I wasn't aware that RC even offered air bags...had to look it up. I would prefer Timber Grove or firestone bags, but to answer your question yes they do help with the ride and stability when trailering.

Thank you all for the feedback. I will look into the Timber Grove bags. Do any of you know if they come with the airline, fittings, and valves? I assume it is all included, but the website doesn't really say.

If you watch their youtube install videos it looks like they come with everything.

I've got the LoadLifter 5000 air lift spring kit on my truck primarily because they incorporate an internal jounce bumper. When I'm not pulling my fifth wheel I can run at 0 psi and enjoy the cushy factory ride a 2500 offers.
I use airbags because the pin weight of the fiver is directly over the rear axle and turning corners or broadside winds can cause a significant weight shift from side to side felt as body roll. However, I do not experience significant sag. A 6000 pound bumper pull, especially one equipped with a WDH, is not going to exhibit the same kind of side to side weight shift because it's weight is centered well aft of the axle and the ball allows a lot of articulation between the truck and camper.
I recommend against them in your case, but if you should go ahead, the LoadLifter 5000 from Air Lift is a great product that is relatively easy to install and works very well. I've used them on other trucks and never had a problem.

I used the Airlift 1000HD helper bags on my 1500 and they certainly helped a bit, but there is nothing like that for the 2500's. I think for the price, I am leaning toward the Timber Grove bags if I get them at all.

I have the Timber Grover air bags on my 2500, easy install and comes with everything, also had them on another truck. Very good customer service from Steve the owner. I had a very slight leak in one bag, emailed Steve the next morning and he answered shortly after, and had another bag shipped out that same day!
