Will the MY25 HD RAM still be a 4.5 Gen?

Will the new MY25 RAM HD still be a Gen 4.5 or how does that work? Andre on TFLnow said last week that RAM tells him about the new MY25 RAM HD info, to "stay tuned, it's coming."

Info I have for 25 indicates Oct 2024 as job 1 build dates for gas trucks, Jan 2025 for Diesel and there's a good chance the ZF will make it through final dev, possibly with an engine update as well though it may be down on power from 1st guesses.

I wouldn't expect a new cab, so it's gonna be 4.75 gen. LOL.

Will technically still be a 4.5 gen.

ZF Powerline for the diesels, it's looking like a singular Cummins engine option, Hemi upgrade (for emissions, not expected to make more power), refreshed front clip, new taillights, interior tweaks to mirror 2025 Ram 1500.

I don't think they're updating the electrical architecture of the HDs so I wouldn't expect all the features of the 1500 to carry over, but I can't say for sure on that.

I expect the 2025 Ram HD to be revealed soon.

What features does the new 1500 electrical have that the old system we have doesn't?

The new 1500 front is barf.

I'm surprised someone hasn't leaked the details to the new Cummins diesel powertrain.

GM has gotten lazy lately, as well. Usually, the fleet order guides are out by mid-Summer, and what else do they have to do during the Summer than update their website for next model year build configuartors? Waiting until September is just lazy. GM will have the MY25 build configuration updated for MY25 next week, but they have been taking orders for over a month now. Kind of surprised there has been no leaks from anyone at RAM or Cummins.

"Glow plugs."

That's all I got for now.

Currently: heads up display, more advanced adaptive cruise control system, a few other things I forgot as well and that’s just stuff that’s been available in the 1500s since 2021. The 2025 1500 got an all new electrical architecture putting it not 2 generations ahead of what’s in the HDs, and got the highway self driving mode, passenger screen etc. Whether that will carry over I’m not sure.

From what I’ve been told from friends inside the company, you don’t want the new electrical architecture even if the HDs don’t get all the features because of it, it’s been problematic so far apparently.

Glow plugs would certainly solve the grid heater bolt issue.
You mean the rare issue thats easy to overcome? ill take that over glow plugs…. Glow plugs are crap they always have been if you compare reliability the grid heater lasts longer and much less wiring to go bad. Plus if the grid goes bad its a quick change no risk of further issues like when glowplugs break off in there bores upon removal

Curious if there will be a lifter change as well.
Possibly but i doubt they would go back to the flat tappet because doing that would basically be an admission of guilt leading to a high possibility of them having to recall or have a warranty extension on the engines with hydraulic rollers. Basically what was the outcome of the CP4 disaster. If the 21s would not have had the CP3 the 19-20s would not have received a recall IMHO just like the fords or GMs.

I don’t know, the higher trim levels with a metal bumper look good imo, especially in person.

I never liked the 19-24 1500 front end though…

I agree, I only liked the limited front ends previously but dig the 2025s enough to go look at one and test drive it. Even the SO was impressive. But I’m happily in a 2018 mega cab tungsten and loving it.

2025s are probably being held back on production because the lack of sales and units sitting on lots. I would expect major rebates the next few months similar to last year. I got almost 15k off my PW in November last year

There is not much on any lot i have seen as far as the HDs go most dealers have one or 2 HDs and thats it.

Needle bearings in the roller or larger keyways or tie bars.

Doubt Cummins would go for that after how Ram has hurt their reputation over the last 4 years with both the CP4 and the current lifter issues they are more likely to drop the rollers and go back to flat tappet also this coming after the emissions law suit. This is just my opinion but time will tell

I can't beleive we are in the 2nd week of September and Job 1 RAM HD gas vehicles are supposed to start production in October, and not even a dealer order guide or anything. If there is a new Cummins ISB diesel for MY25, when do those motors start production? I thought I read awhile ago that the new ZF 8 speeds for the diesels being built in South Carolina are already in production?
