I wanted to put together a review on these tires since there aren't many. Normally I would wait longer, however these have been going on frequent sales with steep discounts because they are seemingly out of production (no longer on Eldorado's site). I purchased these in 295/70r18 for $153 ea from Simple Tire. Their price has been fluctuating from about $150-$220 ea. They measure 34" mounted on stock Longhorn wheels at the specified door jamb pressures.
Eldorado car tires are made by Cooper similar to Kelly with Goodyear. While Cooper IS a US based tire manufacturer, the majority of their truck tires to my understanding are made in Hangzhou and my tires say made in Taiwan. These tires are also sold under the Crosswind and Multimile names which are all a part of TBC. Sumitomo is also a TBC brand which makes sense since Sumitomo was partnered with Goodyear (owners of Cooper) until several years ago. This may mean that they are no longer produced by Cooper, however imo Sumitomo is a reputable brand and Multi-Mile is well known for commercial tires.
To be clear I do not off-road this truck. I wanted a tough cool looking tire that would get good traction on dirt and gravel roads and not be suicidal in the rain. I also wanted a larger footprint to drive on the beach.
These Wild Trails are a hybrid terrain tire similar to Cooper ST Maxx tires with a slightly different center tread design. So far I have only driven on asphalt and concrete roads in the wet and dry. They ride slightly rougher than the Transforce AT2, but balanced well and don't have a harsh vibration. They do grumble a bit around 75 mph however that has subsided since first mounted. Under normal driving (not spirited) they have handled wet and dry well and I have not lost too much acceleration or braking ability with the larger size and weight tire. I have had "hard" braking in the rain, which they handled fine, but have not had to panic stop. The spare tire did need to be angled up and into place with the larger diameter, but it does clear the heat shield. At 70-80 mph, the speedo is now a out 2mph low. As soon as my bypass cable arrives I will be adjusting the tire height and pressure for hopefully a softer ride and better acceleration and accurate instruments.
So far my one complaint is they are LOUD. They don't growl like some aggressive mud tires, however they do have a loud whine. My prior ride was a JK Wrangler which with hollow doors and a fiberglass roof I would expect the BFG KM tires and Nankang Mudstars I had to be very loud. However this truck with acoustic glass and a loud exhaust I wasn't expecting to hear much from the tires. These tires are much louder than both sets of mud tires on the Jeep.
Overall these tires seem to offer adequate traction and look fantastic. At full retail price there are definitely better options, however at the price I got them I don't think there is a better or even comparable option. I would buy again, however if you are sensitive to noisy tires these should not be an option for you.
