Why not tap into the dash 12v outlet?

I'm going to run a 12v outlet to the rear of the center console. It is easy to pull the center out of the dash and access the 12v outlet wires, tap into them and then run the wires to the rear 12v. I know that I am robbing from the front outlet but I don't think I would ever pull more than 10 amps and definitely not more than 20 amps form both outlets combined. Does anyone see a problem with this? What size fuse is on the dash 12v outlet? I will probably use 16ga wire for this project.
 
Do you have Aux switches?

There's 12V bat+ and ignition circuits available inside the cab, both on their own 20A circuit.

Hmmm....I thought all the Aux switches went to the engine area. Any more info on where to find the Aux Switch 12V inside the cab?

They do.

However, the Grey jumper that came in the Aux switch wiring bag carries both a fused (20A) BAT+ and fused (20A) Ignition to the rear blunt cut wires via jumpered pins (wire loop) in that grey connector. It has to be plugged in way up under the dash. It's behind the headlight switch but near the firewall.

There's an extra pinned blunt cut wire in that jumper that connects to the "pass-thru" circuit pin on one of the AUX connectors under the hood. You can loop from an AUX of your choosing to back into the pass-through circuit to carry it back into the cab on that blunt cut pass-through wire in the grey jumper. If you need to pick up the BAT+ or Ignition that's on theat jumper, you can splice in or de-pin the line going to the rear frame blunt cut wire. Use fuses if you tap into either of those wires going to the back. I'd also use the device fuse if supplied (I'm going to connect my BD 2WD low range override kit) or change the AUX fuse to the same rating that came with the device.

@thestuarts has a doc he put together but I don't know if he published it here yet.

Look at the bottom half of page 7 and you'll see...

I haven't finished publishing the AUX switches doc [or video] yet because @Jimmy07 gave me some good feedback that I'm incorporating into the document. I should be done with it this weekend.

You can tap into the USB “power only” port in the console rather than running wires all the way from the cigarette lighter receptacle

I saw that when I took the back of the console apart. I see the black wire. Just wonder if the 12v is the pink/yellow or red/violet. I will take the plug apart and get the volt meter after it. Thanks
 
I got a 7 way to 12v plug adapter that I use in both my truck bed and rear bumper. Pretty handy. I know it doesn’t help in the cab.

Hey- Did you ever end up publishing the document for the AUX switches? I'd love to see it, as I'm trying to figure out how to get power at the tailgate blunt wires and under the dash simultaneously.

Awesome, thanks! I had found some of these details in the DashCam thread, but I was still missing a few key pieces of the puzzle, and it looks like you have answered most of them here. Looking forward to reading all of this.
