Looking to hear from people running factory 18” wheels, with non-factory size tires. Stock suspension

My wheels are aftermarket, but I’m running 285/75/18. I was sold on 295/70/18, but after I started comparing with the exact tire I wanted, I realized the 285/75 gave me almost an inch more in height while weighing a pound less. The width was less important than height to me, so that’s how I made the decision. Just a factor to consider!

Thanks for the nice comment. I feel like my 275/70/18 just look too narrow. I don’t really wanna go much taller but more wanting to go with a wider tire. I would just run a 305/65/18 but there not rated for my 8 inch wide wheel.

Not sure, if you were still looking for comparisons, but just installed 295/70/18 Kumho Road Venture MT71's on Factory Big Horm Wheels. Stock suspension.IMG_6530.JPG

Looks good. Fills up the wheel wells nicely. Now for a lift and bigger tires! Haha!

Looks good, i'm currently on the fence between 285/75R18 & 295/70R18. I'm leaning toward the 285's cause i'll be running them as snow tires so narrower is probably better, and i figure they'll fit the stock wheels better and fill the wheel wells a bit more.

That looks awesome. Can I see some more pics. Like front and back. Do they rub at all?

No rubbing at full lock that I noticed during the short drive back and parking. I feel like they sit well for a truck without fender flares. I like the Mopar offroad flares and would put a wider tire and different rims if I went that route.

FOR SURE, Staying under the garage ceiling for now ;) Wish list is a Thuren 2" front kit, however I would love to have some 37's with a larger lift on Method 17" wheels, I love that look!!!

I was headed toward 285/75 as well, but I could not justify the price. Also, for whatever reason these Kumho tires reported 34.5" height as opposed to 34.3" that is standard for 295/70/18, so I was getting real close to the 34.6" that most 35x12.5 report. I plan to take the tape measure to them this evening. I think the 285/75 would look great!!

When working with a 1 inch narrower tire than the 35x12.5, you gain a slight amount of space at wheel locks, too.

When I was looking, the Falken 35x12.5r20 had a lower payload rating than the 285/65R20. Can't say if all other brands are similar.

I'm really kicking myself, Amazon had Falken Wildpeak AT3W's 285/75/R18 (Measures 34.8" Tall 11.5" Wide) on prime for $255 a tire, $43 cheaper than any other website or local tire distributor. I was seriously considering pulling the trigger on a set, but hesitated, and now they're up to $298 per tire just like everyone else.

Keep checking Amazon. I was doing the exact same thing a couple weeks ago. Was about to pull the trigger at $258 but hesitated until the next day. When I went to order they were up to around $300. So, I ordered in 295/70R18 instead. Checked on the 285s a few days later for kicks and they were back down around $250, now back near $300. If you're set on that size check daily, otherwise step it down .5" or so to the 295s like I did. Still seems like a great tire and no rubbing issues on stock wheels/suspension with the extra cm.

Yea I'm gonna keep a close eye on it, part of the reason I didn't pull the trigger is I was in touch with a guy i went to high school with, he buys welding supplies from me and offered to hook me up with a set of tires at cost... However now that i have the cash and I'm ready to move, he's not responding.

See price history and setup a watch in camelcamelcamel...

They're $232 a tire today! ordered!

Good catch! Looks like that's about the lowest price they ever go.

Yea i have Honey installed on chrome so i saw the history of the prices on there and this looks like the best I can do.
