I don't have any experience with it but these days most people running a snorkel claim it's to reduce the amount of dust getting to the filter. I know AEV offers a model with an additional "cyclonic filter". They are the ones with a round thing on top instead of just the forward opening.
 
i like most stuff AEV but I agree with Crusty the snorkels are butt ugly and the stock air box on 2019 and up is pretty good. if I ran in dusty conditions a lot they might make sense because of the pre filter but the ones I have seen on my buddies's jeeps just are not all that solid. Once you do one there is no going back either.
 
I’ve splashed through water A LOT lower than the air intake inlet and had a partially wet filter (I was surprised when I checked). Granted I could have gone through the hole slower, but didn’t want to get stuck in front of a crowd. I agree they don’t look the best, but they’re for peace of mind.

With the intake pulling from directly above the rad they would serve a purpose for people going full boar in to mud/water crossings like posted above
 
Eh as mentioned the air intake on the 19+ is pretty high, above the radiator. I’m not taking my truck in water that deep, lots of other stuff will start having water intrusion issues before the engine (like the cab lol)
A little water getting in the intake/air box isn’t going to be an issue . That happens all the things driving in the rain and snow. The airbox actually has a few little drain holes at the bottom. However going in DEEP water, you flood the airbox and hydrolock the engine
The stock intake design/ Airbox flows really well, adding the filter will likely restrict air flow, though probably not enough to be noticeable to performance

Yeah is anyone really going to drive their level 3 or whatever level for that matter through deep enough water that they'll risk getting swamp water all over inside their cab? I doubt it.
 
I had a snorkel on one of my XJs and I took it in water over the hood just because I was 20 years old and had a snorkel. Water was coming in the doors. I don’t know how That POs kept running electrically but It was fun at the time. I eventually rolled that XJ and destroyed the snorkel.

I would never take my ram in water that deep intentionally. I’ve only seen floodwater blocking roads and interstates one time in my life.

That being said, I think they look awesome and I would totally be a poser and rock it. I like them better with the scoop and not the bucket. Haha. My excuse would be “sometimes it’s dusty”

You gotta admit it would be awesome to have it and then an apocalypse comes and you get to use it properly
