Who Got The " Important Emissions Recall " letter

I received both the Flash update notice and the other one related to possible pressure switch the fire causing thing, I purchased my truck Dec 30, 2019 so my assumption is this will have to be taken care of..
Hope it doesn't jack with my mileage, i commute 50 miles round trip, in traffic and I get 19.5 MPG only have 3200 miles on her and only had to add about 3.5 gallons of DEF fluid so far..
It was half full when I got it new..
My Dodge Mechanic buddy said set up the appointment and then they will order the part, if not they wont may not have it available since these trucks are still new and part availability may be limited.
Plus I am always leary of leaving my vehicles at dealerships and are they actually fixing something or just billing FCA...

Still waiting for my truck to finish up. Got to talking with the tech and service manager about the VB6 recall - they both said I am the first one to bring the truck in to get this done. I gave them the recall bulletin I received and it looked almost identical to the one the tech received from FCA, with the exception of specific instructions of installing the actual update. Their bulletin did not mention any detail as to why there is a recall on the emissions. Weird!

I got the leteer forthe VB6 recall only to be told by both my local dodge dealer where i got the truck and Ram care that my vin is not listed in the recall. RC is trying to figure out why mine does not show up

Unfortunately, flan, as our team is not comprised of trained technicians, the only information I have is what was stated in the Owner's Letter: "The engine control software in your vehicle must be modified with a new calibration to improve emission control performance". For any specific questions regarding this, I recommend that everyone speak with their dealer.

Maybe Ram Care should hire some technical peeps... I am tired of hearing that excuse!

Good morning folks! Got the truck back last night after the dealer reprogrammed the truck with the VB6 recall, and I am seeing zero difference in engine performance. Truck still runs great! No shifting irregularities. I've only driven 25 miles since I got it back, so I can't give you a good estimate of mpg change until I put some more miles on it. The dealership also performed the calibration on the engine that covers TSB 18-052-19. That is the TSB for excessive DEF usage - I was experiencing that, so I asked them to look into that and they did. I have to be honest...I am lucky that I have a service department that doesn't look at the customer all bug-eyed when they are coming in with a concern. They jumped right on the issue with the excessive use of DEF and hopefully that will eliminate that concern.

PSA - on another note - could we please lay off the RamCares folks? They are providing a free service to us as another outlet of communication to Ram at FCA. They certainly don't have to offer it. I never saw Ford offer that kind of service on the Ford forums (at least in the Super Duty or Mustang forums) when I was an active member. Since I have been on here a short time, I have seen them help quite a few of our members with leveling up the response we need when dealing with Ram or FCA. Some issues are simply out of their purview or ability to make things happen. Deal with it and move on to find another source. I don't want to lose that resource and we may if we continue to publicly trash them.

Thanks!

Solid point. I've hung out on a lot of vehicle forums over the years and while some manufactures offer this type of service, as was mentioned, they don't have to. While they may not be able to always help to someone's anticipated expectation, they do help when they can.

What good the service if they do nothing to help? The folks working for Ramcare are getting paid to do a job, not doing it outta the kindness of there heart, and doing very little if you ask me. Call it trashing if you will, your never going to get any better if you don’t say anything. If @RamCares quits this forum because of a couple people “trashing” them, then that’s pretty sad and just not realistic.

Happy you have been able to get all your issues worked out. However, I haven’t! I don’t think it’s too much to ask when you buy an $80,000 truck and it comes with a warranty that issues get addressed and fixed. Never had this issue when my GMCs go in for warranty repair. I don’t see how Ram care is free????

@J Buck - Thanks! As to your other point...your comment about Ram Cares got me to thinking that perhaps I don't know as much as I thought I did (which is par for the course on occasion). So I looked it up! Apparently, WE DO pay for Ram Care when we buy the truck. It's part of the "package" (hidden cost) when you buy your truck. To quote from the Ram Care site, " Membership for Ram Care included as part of vehicle purchase begins on the vehicle's in-service date.", and "Select 2017 model year and newer Ram Brand vehicles (1500, 2500, 3500) are eligible for Ram Care." It is a two-year membership. If you have a 2014 model or older you can purchase a membership package into Ram Care.

What is their mandate? "Ram Care is a program designed to provide select Ram vehicle owners with exclusive 24/7 Ram vehicle owner support and a special package of benefits to enhance the ownership experience. Its purpose is to strengthen owners’ connection to the Ram Brand and its dealerships as a means to drive repeat sales, after-sales business and a positive perception of the brand."

How do they do that? "Ram Care membership benefits include exclusive Ram vehicle owner support, maintenance services*, VIP treatment at Ram Brand events across the country, peace of mind with trip interruption protection*, first-day rental coverage* and a unique web site experience (Mopar website).

Benefits noted with (*) are administered by way of a Mopar Vehicle Protection® (MVP) plan that accompanies the Ram Care membership. MVP plans are 2 years in duration, reflective of the membership term (details to follow). 2-year memberships provide four oil changes and four tire rotations to be used over the term of the membership (24 months). Further details on Ram Care benefits can be found later in this document."

Before you ask if the service can be declined at the point-of-sale, I don't know the answer to that.

Here's the link in case anyone is interested - Ram Cares

What I did not find in any of the documentation, I read, is any requirement for Ram Cares to monitor Ram truck forums, including Cummins forums. It's my guess that some enterprising person at Ram Cares came up with the idea to monitor the forums as a way to ATTEMPT to help us if we run into roadblocks. Most companies nowadays do this very same thing as part of their customer service initiative.

Look...my point through all this and my previous post...is this - with so much divisiveness going on around us on a daily basis (politics, coronavirus, North Korea, Kardashian's, etc.), I personally try to "kill with kindness"...but that's just me. I know the forums are a good place to vent, but there are better, easier ways to get someones attention and assistance.

I used this phrase when I was a C.O. in the Navy toward my junior officers - "Praise in public - punish in private". It works 100% of the time when you are dealing with people.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for taking the time to touch on this subject! I just wanted to hop in to provide further clarification about who we are and what we do. RamCares is the Social Engagement Team for FCA and we are part of the customer care team. We monitor forums, as well as social media platforms, to assist customers who are currently experiencing vehicle concerns as well as get them connected with a Case Specialist to work with their dealers throughout the repair process. We also track trends so that the appropriate parties are made aware of what concerns our customers are experiencing.

Please know that our team has existed socially prior to the invention of the Ram Care program. Further, Ram Care does have a direct support line for program members. You can learn more about it by visiting ramtrucks.com/care.

Thanks for the explanation Mark and for what you and others at RamCare does

RugbyRef well said and I agree a lot of people now feel it’s not my problem or you owe me. Be a part of the solution not apart of the problem showing up today in Covid 19
