I searched and found a few threads on this, not related to the dual rear wheel 3500’s though.

I acquired a second set of the OEM Alcoa style 17x6 wheels. I will be painting them with auto quality paint in either a single polyurethane or a two stage base and based tinted 2k hardened clear.

That being said, I have an urge to paint this set white as the set I have on the truck now are the night edition blacks.

Since I hate the OEM covers, I am designing a hub covering cap in fusion 360 and will likely have it machined somewhere out of aluminum. This cap will also be painted to match the wheel.

You don’t see nearly any white wheel DRW’s out there so I’m seriously thinking about doing it. LoL, maybe there’s a reason for that.

Attached is the current status of the 22 HO Quasi-Night Edition I styled on a tradesmen.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Eh I have a hard enough time keeping black rims clean, but I think it would look unique!
Definitely agree about the cleaning part. My wife’s STI had white wheels two different times and it was a pain. They were those BBS style racing wheels with 12+ spokes though. Hopefully the larger surface area makes it slightly easier to clean. The added bonus is that I’m mostly on road so it shouldn’t be more than brake dust to keep off it.

I voted "get out" lol

However I'd be interested to see what it would look like. Perhaps someone nice who is good at editing photos could accomplish that? Bueller? Bueller?

Im not a fan of the show truck look and I think thats where this ends up with white wheels. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you want to try it, go for it.

White wheels are not without precedent, I really liked these back in the day, when Cragar was really the only wheel to have, even in a simple white.

Fast forward to today, I could see it working out just fine, a matter of taste. Definitely stand out in a crowd of black wheels. My only concern would be the white of the wheels and white of the truck being a good color match. A mismatch would be off-putting, see below comparing the Jeep (good color match) and the Toyota (bad color match)

I went ahead and shot some 2k white on the scuffed up wheel to mock it before I had them chemical stripped. I’m saying the hell with it. I’ve also got a buddy 3d printing me the custom hub caps I designed in fusion. I’ll be showing those around at some point. They will be rhinestone cowboy-esque but it’s all good. Something different for a bit while I refinish the ones on it now.
