When I start up the truck, it seems to idle pretty fast (11-1200 RPM) and makes that chirping sound I see mentioned on here. I am assuming that high idle is normal but just wanted to check with you guys. It does go down after a bit so I guess best thing is to just let it idle a half minute or minute or whatever it takes to slow down before you take off? I can't even remember what my other cars/trucks idle at on startup. Maybe they do the same but I just notice this because it is big engine and louder!

Yep, my '21 6.4 does the same.
so did my '01 F250 6.8L gas motor
So does my '04 Chevy 5.3 gas motor
So did my '15 Hyundai 5.0 gas motor.
so did all 3 of my Harleys.

You get the idea.

It's to warm up the engine before you drive off.

I usually let it idle for a bit as I get the seat set, steering wheel set, mirrors open and put on my seat belt.

But I've noticed that some do a high idle longer than others.

Carb motors even did it back in the day and was adjustable. It was called a choke. ;)

Yes it’s high idles to get up to temperature. Does it for a while when it’s cold out.
