I am about to convert my boat trailer to EOH brakes, and want to be sure that my 7 way will match up to the truck.

My 7 way trailer side looks like this. Plug and play with truck, or do I have to swap some? Is the only difference between SAE and RV different color coding but same locations?

But are the colors as shown SAE or RV? I dont have the boat trailer with me but i think the lights have different colors than what is shown. So it wont be red to red, brown to brown etc

The cover of our truck 7 pin shows what pin is what location if you need to reference it. Those colors look standard for RV's.

One a side note, that style plug is not compatible with the Ram receptacles. They work, most the time, but are known to have connectivity issues and could do damage. You need to use the single flat blade style male plug.

Old style: Bad juju

New Style: Good juju

I ordered a hopkins before i saw that pollak was OE. Think it will be ok, or do i truly need a Pollak?
The good juju terminal blades look diff than both of my options.

The Pollock you show is the 12-706 from the bulletin. You can’t go wrong with that.

The Reese 74127 is also a good compatible option.

The Hopkins appears like it should work fine too.

Ok, cool. If the Hopkins that I ordered will be OK I’ll go with that.
Thanks y’all

Any of the single flat blade models are fine. I just ordered the whole umbilical with a molded plug for my 5th wheel.

FWIW, my 5th wheel had the old style on it and never gave me any trouble.

Our horse trailer has the old style and it's never been an issue on any of 4th gen Rams (17,18,2x22) Dad or I tow it with, but our elk hunting TH had an old one and had intermittent brake disconnects on my 18, but since swapping to the Reese plug those have gone away.

Its odd really my 97 jayco has never had an issue on my trucks but i have had others that caused issues. Why some work and others dont im not sure since the issue is not consistent across the board

Yeah, I haven’t figured out why some work and some don’t.

Anyone know what gauge wire feeds the +12v to the 7way on the truck side?

Want to make sure it has enough juice to power my actuator.
