What options require a factory order to go to the upfitter?

It seems from what I’ve read that bed steps, side steps, and the spray on bedliner require a trip to the upfitter. Anything else? What about the bed LED lights? Looking at a factory order and thinking build time might be shorter if I skip some things I can add later.

Yeah, ultimately I probably could have phrased my question differently, but while I was asking, I figured I'd cover all the bases. Mostly I wanted to find out if the LED bed lights require it. I thought they might, since they're included with the bed utility group. But, since I'm considering a 75th Anniversary edition Power Wagon, I wonder whether those rock rails require going to the upfitter or just the regular running boards/steps on other models require it.

Aftermarket tends to have better selection of products at better prices than o.e.m.

This was more of an issue in the past. It seems the factory has figured this out and gotten better on a lot of items in terms of pricing. It's not the 'no brainer' decision it was 10 years ago.

Not so. Can get a better quality bedliner for less than factory price. Same with steps.

There are many things that can be added later for a fraction of the factory cost.
Maybe, maybe not. Definitely not with everything.
I missed the bed step and all weather floor mats when ordering my truck. Each of these options were $200 CAD when building my truck. To add them later, bed step was over $500 and floor mats were much more expensive too. I've installed the AMP bed step which is better than factory but it was $350 CAD or somewhere around that. Plenty of floor mats too but I haven't seen a set yet that was as good of a fit as the factory all weather mats that was anywhere as cheap as $200.

And then there's the 5er /gooseneck prep package. $500 CAD option, which I ordered but they forgot to include. Cost them almost 4 times as much to get one installed in my truck after it was delivered.
