what is this (2020 2500) behind dash panel?

I pulled the panel below the light switch and have not seen anything like this. it is some kind of pull strap but not sure what it does. what ever it controls is obviously spring loaded. Anyone know what it is and what the function is. I know it is not a MIL ejection seat strap as it is behind the panel never get to it in time while driving :)
 
that's where I have my sotf and fog switch. I've had that panel off umpteen times. that's why I was asking.

Interesting, your reply made me go pull the panel on my 2020 3500 Cummins
Same as you. Nothing there.
So, I wonder why jdmt's 2020 Power Wagon has one and our 2019 & 2020 does not ???

you have the Aisin tranny it sounds like the 8speed ZF tranny has it.
 
If you can't start the vehicle you can't get it out of Park. So you have to use the emergency rip cord to do it.

I had a dead battery on a new 2018 Durango and that is how they got it out of my garage when they came to take it back to the dealership.

Its for the 8 speed only its to be able to put it on a towtruck if you cant get it out of park

The cummins you can still pop the shifter off and get in gear

What do you mean by "pop the shifter off". How is that done?
