My ridge graps are about worn out. I intend to replace them this fall. I was not very impressed with the snow performance of these tires and have been looking at 3 peak rated tires. What is your favorite one? I was thinking falken at3w but I dont think they look the greatest, and looks is a consideration for me.

Interested to see and hear your suggestions. Appreciate the feedback.

I'm normally a Cooper AT3 fan but this time around I'm trying the Firestone Destination XTs. They're sitting at Discount Tire now, I just can't find the time to get the truck in. Reviews seem positive and snow performance is talked about quite a bit by others.

Installed Falkens on my dually last fall for the winter they performed really well. Lots of snow and ice here.

IMO the best performing (as in snotty NW snow capability) would have to be the General Grabber AT/X. Best looking? Duratrac is sure sexy.

I run a summer AT and have a separate winter wheel set with studded snow tires. Nothing compares. (the snows are ugly though.... it hurts my ego...)

I'm going with the falkens. had them on my duramax and also on my jeep gladiator. performed great for me. I think they look good enough.

I ran through three sets of duratracs on my 2013 2500. Absolutely loved them, but they would get some funky wear and make some noise towards EOL.

The Falkens I actually ordered and then have been second guessing myself. Some pics they look great and others I dont like the look. It seems most guys are running 17's or 18's and I think part of what I dont like of that look is the extra sidewall.

Anyone have 35x12.50 20 Falkens? Thats the size I intend to run again.

Duratracs need to be rotated religiously but man they grab good i love em for plowing snow i can move banks back way better with duratracs than any other tire i have tried!

I am running the Falken AT3Ws up here in New England. I am not 100% sure what you dislike about the look but I can imagine it's the less aggressive sidewall design, which I also dislike. That said, they have performed better than any of the other RT/MT tires I've run in the winter here. I've taken them on the highway to pick someone up from the airport in Boston just after a snowstorm when the roads were trash, rain, even off road on packed snow and ice, and they handle great. I wish they were stud-able, but that's about my only gripe outside wishing they looked more aggressive. NH, VT, ME during the winter months can be no joke, but they have treated me amazing, and they aren't terrible to balance (for a 37x17 anyway) and seem to be wearing well. Just make sure you rotate them as you would anything else (I'll admit I'm not doing a great job of that).

Thanks for all the information guys. I am seriously considering going Falken again. What size falkens are you running? Any pics?

I have had Falken at3w, BFG KO2, Cooper AT3, Toyo at3 and Duratracs...all 3 peak rated. I prefer my Toyo RT's to any of them even tho they are not 3 peak rated. I live in Montana so drive a lot in winter conditions.

I'll be the odd man. Had wildpeaks on my 1500. Loved them for everything but snow. Loved the milage i got out of them (52k and they were still about half tread) and the behavior while towing. Seriously considering duratracs on my 2500 when the time comes.

I had Toyo RTs and I felt they were absolutely horrible in every snow condition. In deep snow they packed too hard and became slicks. They didn't provide much confidence on packed snow and ice, and they were downright terrifying when driving on the highway and hitting a patch of snow or ice. I'm surprised to hear anyone claim they are better than the others stated.

I have had the rt’s in 35’s on two different jeeps and on my power wagon. I never have had an issue and living in Montana i drive winter roads a lot and my favorite past time is snow showing so spend a lot of time in the mountains.

That's crazy. I also had them in a 35x12.5x20 and I hated them so much. I'm up in NH and spend a decent amount of time in the top half of NH, VT and ME in the fall and winter months, so similar but not quite the same.

Glad they work well for you, just surprised to hear.

So while doing some research Discount told me after contacting GY that the GY Duratrac has been discontinued in the 35x12.50 20 E and F sizes. They suggested I look at the GY ultra terrain AT. Its a Discount exclusive thats 3 peak rated and doesnt look bad. Anyone have any experience with these or the BFG AT?

I have had BFG's in the past, and currently have them on my Rubicon 392...but I heard long ago that they dont last on our heavy trucks. Anyone have experience with them?

Discount only has one Falken available and said it will be awhile before they can get the rest of the set.

The oil patch up here runs pretty much exclusively Duratracs. A pure winter tire is better on ice, but Duratrac are far and away the best all season use tire, great traction in the mud, deep snow, dry pavement, better than average on ice. They are a bit softer compound for better traction so rotating them for maximum life is very important.

I had Firestone Transforce ATs on the truck when I got it, absolutely useless in mud, as in the truck was not driveable on muddy roads, let alone off road. The tires were slipping so much, even in 4x4, that the TCS shut itself off after 800 yards, and threw up a service TCS warning. Even in 4 low I could barley keep the truck on the road at 5 mph. The warning light went away after about an hour and a restart once I got back on pavement. I was out of town so paid a premium to swap to Duratracs, same conditions, no problems, just like all the other 4x4s I have run them on.

Have tried quite a few different tires over the years, for all season use with lots of off road, the only one close is Mud Terrains that have been heavily syped by Kal Tire.

I wonder if they offer a metric equivilent. I am looking at duratracs in a 285/75-18. That is a 35" tire. not sure what the metric 35 is for a 20" rim.
