I'm heading out on a 6K mile road trip and think I should replace the battery before I leave. The original battery is 2.5 yrs old and I've read on these forums that the quality of the original batteries is questionable. Since I'll be traveling about half the distance on non-Interstate roads, I want to make sure I have zero battery issues.

I used to always buy Interstate batteries but have heard that their quality has gone down hill. Is that true? If so, what brand/model would some of you recommend?

Funny to see your post, I just bought today a Walmart Everstart Platinum AGM to replace my OEM battery. I feel like the cranking speed has lagged a bit lately and figured I'd replace it before cooler weather is here. I wasn't sure whether to buy an Everstart Maxx or the Platinum, only 20 bucks more for the AGM so figured I'd go with it, could have gone either way. In general I've had really good results with Walmart batteries over the past 5-6 years in boats and cars. I used to be a Diehard guy then switched to Duralast but to me they are way too expensive now.

AGM is a good suggestion. I like the Duracell AGM that Sam’s club and batteries plus sell. It’s made by east penn who makes deka etc.

I don't even know who makes Everstart batteries, didn't do that research. I paid I think $179 for the Everstart. I looked and the Duracell AGM and also the Duralast Platinum AGM are both around $259. I think the Duracell has a bit more CCA than the Everstart but not a big difference. So I don't know what the quality/durability comparison is between the 3 batteries but between the price and having good luck with Walmart I just went with it.
