Went to the grocery store this weekend and while the wife and I were in the store, somebody decided they needed to modify the aerodynamics of my truck door. I am sure their intentions were good when they did it, probably thinking they would decrease the drag of the truck and increase my gas mileage, thus saving me lots of money over the many years I would own the truck. I wish they would have been kind enough to leave me a note so I could contact them and let them know how much I appreciate the work they did. Unfortunately, they wanted to remain anonymous, so their good deed will go unrewarded.

I was sick when I saw it. It is my first new truck and I have only had it for about 7 months. I don't understand how someone could do this and just leave. I don't know if it can be fixed somewhat inexpensively or if it will cost me an arm and a leg. I want to avoid filing an insurance claim if I can. It is about 12-14 inches long. Anyone have an idea of what it might take to fix it?

Ugh, that makes me sick, I hate people. Were you park in the North 40? I’d get a repair quote then decide if it’s worth the deductible plus insurance bump.

Normally I do park away from folks but in this case, I parked closer in, but there were no other cars around. I do have a couple of places to get quotes, so we will see what they have to say. I was just hoping it would take a little longer for it to get scuffed

I see 2 grand in your future. As far as taking responsibility, our schools teach the opposite. How many times have you seen a mother on the news claiming things like "my son is innocent, he didn't do nothin'"

2k is in the neighborhood of what I was thinking but hoping for less. I just don't know if they can fix it or if the door will need replaced.

I don't see how folks can say that crap with a straight face most of the time, even if it is your child.

It is totally fixable by any reputable body shop. Take it to the dealer and they usually farm it out unless they are a huge one. Longo Toyota / Lexus in socal has their own body shop on site. It is quite amazing.

That sucks...
You are presuming they noticed... they probably didn't
This reinforces my decision to park at the ass end of the lot.

So is it the school or the parent?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. .... And even if they didn't, at that point they certainly do not deserve the privilege of driving, and oh by the way...keep them away from shopping carts!

We get it, you're with Her.

OP... That might be a candidate for paintless dent removal. Some of those guys are mobile and REALLY good at what they do. Give them a shot.. might be able to save you some $$.

My dealer is small. I assumed they would be more than a private body shop
