I'm thinking of going from my 1500 (8hp75) to a 2500 (8hp75 lcv) and am trying to do my homework to make sure I understand what ide be giving up vs gaining. One thing i can't seem to find anything on is the differences between these 2 transmissions. From what I'm seeing they have the same ratios and same 750nm rating. So what's the difference?

FWIW, LCV stands for Light Commercial Vehicle
I am not sure what the actual differences are

The robust and advanced-design ZF 8HP75-LCV 8-speed automatic is paired with the 6.4L HEMI V8.

To handle the increased towing and payload capacities, upgrades include:
  • Additional torque-converter brazing
  • Two gear sets with additional pinion gears
  • Heavy-duty PARK system

Is the 8HP75-LCV used by RAM exclusively on their gas engine vehicles, or do they also install it on a 3500 with 6.7L i6 diesel?

HD's don't have Auto 4WD.

Gas only trans.

Cummins is 68RFE or Aisin AS69RC (HO)

2025 brings the ZF 8AP1075 to the Cummins lineup along with a single "improved" 6.7L design.

Thanks for the info! Where can I find ID Plate (Badge) on transmission to identify make & model?

There are only 3 transmissions used in the 19-24 HD pickup trucks.

Hemi = 8HP75 (dial on dash)
Cummins SO = 68RFE (dipstick on passenger side, column shifter)
Cummins HO = AISIN AS69RC (dipstick on driver side, column shifter)

25's haven't rolled off the line yet. 8AP1075 will have NO DIPSTICK for the trans.

What else do you need? The trans have an ID plate riveted to the side, AFAIK all on the driver side.

Was able to go inspect the truck and found it has an Aisin transmission via the ID plate on the driver's side just above the oil pan. This plate has the manufacturer name "AISIN DRIVETRAIN INC", location "MANUFACTURED IN USA" and unit 'SERIAL NO.' but no Model no.
