I’m with you- why do we keep so much crap? My kids will never want it (crap) or care about it- because they don’t even know what the hell it is!!

I just (2 months ago) sold my first car (it was a Mustang) and I'm 36 now. I am so sentimental with the stupidest of things.

Do you have triplets? Holy cow, I can't imagine 3 16 year olds at once. God bless your insurance company!

We have 8 month old twins and a 4 year old. At least the oldest will be off to college by the time the twins start driving.

Just my 2019 3500, wife's 2019 Pacifica and a golf cart for us at this point.

Yes! Two girls and a boy. Our insurance is ridiculous even though we just carry liability on their cars. When they move out, I’ll get one helluva raise!!

I have nothing as fun as y’all do but I love these threads. I USED to have an 2006 S4 before the dreaded timing chain got me.

I expected a lambo but the studebaker must be a head turner.

2020 Ram 3500 (hopefully in a week or so)
2018 Audi Q7
2017 Audi RS7
2007 Audi A8L W12
1970 Dodge Charger
1966 Dodge A-100

And I've got 14 and 12 year olds, so in a few years I expect this to increase yet again.

How long have you owned the w12? I feel like that probably attracts the “real” car nerds.

2001 Audi allroad

It's always something. I had two 2001 S4s with the turbo issues, now my RS7 has notorious turbo problems. The W12 is a pile of issues unto itself. I've had it about 8 years, and just about everything that has a motor or valve or sensor is failing. Right now when I turn it on I'm greeted by O2 sensor (4 of them) errors, and a coolant sensor error, both of which officially need an engine drop to change. Then the MMI display gets halfway out and clicks, and one of the B&O speakers gets halfway up and retreats back into the dash. And the sunroof has leaked catastrophically turning the passenger footwell into a swimming pool. It can't be killed though, it's my DD until the RAM arrives. Then maybe I'll hurl it off a cliff or something, who knows. It's been a great and gorgeous car (and HUGE) and I love it, but I feel like I'm on borrowed time before it spontaneously combusts. Also there's a bad coilpack (I opted only to do plugs, it was dumb of me, but I gambled and lost) so when I get on it it just vibrates weirdly. Have to pull the whole intake to get to anything, which is a job and a half. Have to say, though, having taken this thing apart once, it's absolutely amazing the job they did shoehorning everything in there - there's barely enough room to thread a sheet of paper between anything. I asked my Audi mechanic (whom naturally I'm on a first-name basis with) if anyone there wanted it, thinking someone with no labor cost and a parts discount would be an optimum target, and nobody is interested. Its reputation preceeds it.

Amazing.Though you’ve got the rights to the most absurd stories, it’s somehow worthwhile for those (increasingly fleeting) moments when it’s running perfect.

My 03 A6 2.7T Sport I bought new is long in the tooth but just over 100K on the clock and we still have an ongoing love/hate relationship. Right now it's on my sh*t list due to a nagging front end vibration that can't be located AFTER I spent money for new control arms, etc. all spurred by a new (used) wheel purchase. I bought my son't old (DTM) RS4 wheels and stuffed too wide PilotS4's under it. The venerable 2.7T is absolutely bulletproof although I have replaced a cam chain tensioner, leaky valve seals, and of course coilpaks and practically every movable piece of plastic switch has fallen apart.

I almost bought an RS6 not long after I spent $6K to replace the turbos in the A6 - caused by a mild chip tune (so I put in KO4's), but my Audi mechanic, who played HS football with my oldest son, helped me see the light and the true cost of maintaining the RS cars. My son, a former Audi Master Tech (now @ Mercedes) has a 2001 Nogaro Blue RS4 Avant as his DD.

Short list:

2020 in my sig
2003 A6 2.7T
2009 Polaris 500 :p

wife: 2008 Imprezza

I'm still half heartbroken over selling my 04.5 5.9L 2500

P.S. Two of the bays @ my mechanic's shop today.

New owner sent me a pic of my old truck.

Happy he's enjoying it but still makes me sad. Especially after I paid to have a rear quarter repaired due to my stupidity and took a hit on my insurance anyway. Grrrr.

"ARE ATE" love it!

In oldest to newest order of acquisition:

-1987 Porsche 928 S4 (4sp auto)
-1988 Porsche 928 S4 (5sp manual)
-2007 BMW e60 550i Sport
-2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged
-2006 Mazda Miata Mx5
-2016 BMW 535i xDrive
-2019 Ram 2500 Limited Kentucky Derby Edition

Porsche's are a labor of love and pain - mechanicals are mostly bulletproof but electricals and in particular the vacuum lines are a PITA at times. BMW e60 I've had for 12 years now and it has been completely trouble free - I intended to trade it in on the 535 but its worth so little I figured I'd just keep it until it gets too costly to maintain. Similar story with the Range Rover - its not worth much at all and it is a wonderful vehicle so I intend to keep it for a while after I replace the problematic timing chain guides. Miata is my 3rd but the 3rd generation is the most comfortable - the 1st, 2nd and 4th gens are just a bit too small. 535 is not as fun to drive as the e60 but its just right for driving into Wash DC or other areas in the NCR when needed. And I traded in my well-loved 2010 Ram Laramie Longhorn on the 2500 a few weeks ago - i miss that truck but the 2500 more than makes up for it.
